U.S. backstroker there has a lot of potential... a very fast cadence speed. He's clearly pulling way too far to the left side of his lane however, causing a hard contact with the rope = slowing down his m/s speed. He's probably swimming at least 101m (?) bonus meter in this distance race ? edit: Anyway, sorry to see Fiji not representing in this heat, this year. And hopefully NZ will rep next year too! Respects to all and to all future teams competing in Jr Pan Pacs 🏊 🔛

This pool is also outside which makes it really hard to know if you’re swimming in a straight line

@@krisdeew5953 No doubt on that score... was just making an observation that he seemingly made disproportionate off-angle leaning towards his left shoulder contacting hard with rope and noticeably slowing him down and forcing a considerable correction to center. Hence swimming at least 101m in that race ? Other swimmers in the heat weren't so severe in their asymmetrical shifting from center. That was core to my point! He has a lot potential and can absolutely learn to moderate and train this center-lane recalibration within a short-time, probably within a year... But as a side note, it's all OK too! A swimmer named Aaron Peirsol did the exact same consistent hard pull as a 10 & under and still set the national age-group record and he had to keep training and working on that centering and rebalancing all the way through his Olympic meets and Worlds - even when setting a world record : )

the nz team for men is like four backstrokers and two freestyles they're not putting in an IM relay

Daniel Diehl is nuts. Seen him swim in person and it’s very intimidating lol

Clearly Don isn't a backstroker. This is not a correctable thing, its due to the outdoor pool. They should be banned at all major competitions, cant believe they are still around
