Apologies for the late reply. In this implementation no. The form should have focus for it to work. However, I’ll be releasing a new tutorial soon using a new library I’ve developed which has a more robust implementation and eliminates the need for form focus. Stay tuned! 😊

This is not a background process where you should be able to scan anywhere in your parent winForm. I have a code that is event driven on barCode. Works with all brands of usb barcode scanner cz I am not snooping on usb ports, but we listen on the key inputs. Of course the code checks only for a burst of data, so other UI textbox will still be active for users input using the keyboard. Whenever a burst of data sent from usb scanner is detected, the code fires an event indicating that a barcode has been scanned.

It could possibly work if you use a 2D scanner. 1D linear scanners are only capable of scanning barcodes.
