The UV-3R is the Chinese variant of the Yaesu VX-3 dual band. And I agree, I would not be without the VX-3! Great tool for dialing test channels when used in conjunction with a service monitor to locate interference causing systems, such as poorly tuned isolators and duplexers and also defective antennas.

You ever use one in direct sampling mode without the up-converter? I hear run your antenna straight to the chip with a transformer to match, then use BPF and the performance is better. Lots of phantom signals with no filtering tho.

Thanks for directing me to this video after asking my question about connectors for the NooElec Ham It Up upconverter. This is very, very helpful. At 12:21 on this video, you show how you 3D-printed an enclosure box for your upconvertor. I have concerns about leaving my own upconvertor exposed. If you ever decide to start selling those enclosure boxes, please let me know, as I'll be your first customer. Great video, as always.

Hey Curt. Glad it helped. There is one more video as well that may help if you need it. As for the cases- I don't plan on selling them as I didn't even design it or have the bandwidth to do sales but... recently I printed one for one of my subscribers and due to some events, he wants me to do a giveaway on the channel. So that's what I will do :) Info forthcoming. Cheers

Hey Tom- Description is fixed. The parts came from all over but mostly eBay and my junk bin. There is a video in my Arduino section on how I get components for cheap (process is the same). Thank you! That´s a great kit! I started two weeks ago with a NooElec TV28T v2 USB DVB-T & RTL-SDR Receiver, RTL2832U & R820T Tuner, and after some investigations I can tune FM radios and listen to them great. But I what I really want to receive and decode are satellite signals from cubesats to weather ones. I tried but it looks like my stock antena from the USB NooElec dongle is not good enough. I couldn´t find any good post about that. Do you have any DiY antenna suggestion? Thanks!
@MkmeOrg
@MkmeOrg 9 жыл бұрын
+Francisco Domínguez Román If you want to listen to the NOAA weather sats you need to make a QFH antenna. For any of the others such as cubesats I would say make a basic YAGI. Lots of vids on receiving both on my channel but only one antenna vid here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKa4dZprd7t_ipo

Thank you Eric William -MKme Tech Good tip about the QFH antenna, I found right away a nice intro here www.g4ilo.com/qfh.html I saw already about your antennas, they look great! I checked already about the Yagi so it looks like I have some work to do ahead ;-) Thanks for the tips!

Great vid! I've been wondering about SDR's and just got my Technician License a couple months ago. Been wanting to listen to the local sheriff's but they're using coded radios and this looks like a way to listen in without spending almost $1000 on a scanner that does the same thing. Definitely gonna be looking into this and seeing if I can use it with my tablet as well for portable use. Thanks for the clear explanation and making it look easy. 73's :-)
