The helicopter is already beautiful by itself, and the orange color is even more beautiful. Do it justice with an honorable and courageous American coast guard.

Yeah, my shared number one favorite spot belongs to the H-60's (pretty much all models) and the Soviet Mil Mi-24D, and then the second spot (also shared) belongs to the UH-1 Huey and the Mil Mi-8 "Hip". Those are my favorite vehicles ever, but there's one non-helicopter vehicle that goes above all, and that's the F/A-22 Raptor!

My Uncle spent 30+ yrs as a civilian for the USCG and also was working on these when they were being upgraded to the Tango models, as well as frequently spent time at Coast Guard aviation training center in Mobile, AL and was also frequently at CGAS Elizabeth City, NC, he is one of many people who made the conversion to the new model a great success!

For those who are curious, this paint job is the Coast Guard's ceremonial "Centennial" paint job. Though make no mistake. This bird sees plenty of action.

Hoping they didn't buy too much of that color and plan on sharing it with the other A/S. Wasn't a fan when they painted the 140's black instead of leaving them white much less red (as the icebreakers they are). Hey, if they can justify painting the Mackinaw red when it's as much a buoy tender build as anything else, they could have painted the 140's red. Just my opinion of course.. :-)

@@tc1uscg65 I'd want black paint while flying around ice. The slight extra warmth from the sunlight can only help keep the sheet metal skin in better condition. But that's purely a practical standpoint, not an asthetic one.

I beg to differ. The HH-3F was the only true Work Horse helicopter the CG ever had. A real beast that could do it all. Sorry, but I had to say that. I was a Flight Mech. on them and as all aviators are concerned, whatever they fly is best. Actually all military helicopters are very capable of doing the jobs they are assigned to. This clip brought back great memories. My first ride in a helicopter was when a Air National Guard UH-1 Huey landed at Fort George in Castine, it was in the fall of 1989, my senior year at MMA, they asked if we wanted a ride, Hell Ya!. Working offshore I've flown well over 100 chopper flights now, not as fun as the first time though.

can someone explain to me, the specific tone starting to develop at about @4:40 and culminating at about @4:50 and beyound, what is it? Most if not all helicopter take off videos, regardless of type/model have this sound and it's something that, from childhood, represents the "helicopter sound" for me. I realize it's smth related to the speed of the blades cutting through the air but is it smth "special" happening at that moment that is common to most/all helicopters ?
