I have always wanted to travel around Tokyo. Found myself getting back into skating after leaving it 8 years ago. And these videos have made me realise how much I miss it. I LOVE this mini series with Nick touring around random places on skates... Can we have more of this?

Just got the AEON 80s at my door and I'm in love :D. Hilarious how you took the hype of the Japanese group to advertise AEONs :)))). Skate safe, Nick!

I miss skating in Japan so much. Spent three months there last year, didn't have my Aeons yet, but I did have my Trimax frames on my K2 Unnatural boots, and it was SO much fun to big-wheel around Tokyo and Kyoto, as well as the neighborhoods around Osaka that we spent most of our time in. In Tokyo, we stayed around Asakusa, one of the oldest parts of the city. Not much in the way of street spots, but lots of alleys to cruise around one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Japan, Senso-Ji. In Kyoto, I cruised along the streets near Karasuma Station at night, when most of the shops were closed and the crowds had thinned. Skating after dark is almost a necessity in the busier parts of the big cities, it's just too crowded otherwise. If you're still in Tokyo, I highly recommend heading over to the neighborhoods around Tokyo Tower (Asakusa / Taito City), especially if you can do a night skate.

Did you wear a helmet and/or pads?
@brocmt2 жыл бұрын
@@Hjw673 Yes, helmet, wrist and knee protection. Took up some valuable check-in luggage space, but so very worth it.
@Hjw6732 жыл бұрын
@@brocmt thank you for the reply!!! I'm gonna try and do it with one backpack only, wish me luck 😂

@@brocmt sorry to ask again, but could I ask what wheel size did you use on this trip?
@brocmt2 жыл бұрын
@@Hjw673 I think I had the stock Powerslide Spinners on there, 110mm. I may have brought some 100mm RB Hydrogens as well? Can't remember. Trimax frames can take 90-110mm wheels. But Hydrogens are my favorite wheels for 80mm and up.

I realize it has been two years since this video. But that so called park you were in, was not a park. It was a temple. I would not skate there if you go back. People may give you trouble for disrespecting a place of worship. There is a whole etiquette to the way in which you are supposed to enter that area and how you are supposed to conduct yourself.
