Hi Guys; Yes this video is rather long... It is a good tutorial to run through on designing a diamond ring in Blender 3d, and getting the end result from your Elegoo Mars or Epax printer....
You can get Jewelcraft here: github.com/mra...
I recommend using a Gaming Mouse with multiple buttons that you can program for blender functions. Check this one out...

Hey Guys! I just want to give you my printing specs... I printed the rings on both the Elegoo mars and the Epax X1... Mars settings. .05mm z axis height at 8 seconds each, 6 bottom layers, @50 seconds each, heavy supports, (added custom supports, and did not use the automatic support creation). Epax settings with Phrozen Castable resin at .05mm z axis height, 22 seconds each layer, 6 bottom layers at 70 seconds each, custom supports - Heavy. Neither was printed with Anti-aliasing... I could have printed with a bit better resolution, but I was trying to save time, as I have no intention of casting this item, I just wanted to show you all this, and waste a bit of resin... LOL

The resinworks purple casts well and has a great resolution. Try tightening up the mesh settings on your STL or OBJ before you grow it. I can see the faceting of the faces in your models. I personally don't use Blender (rhino user here) but I enjoy these videos. Keep up the good work!

Peter, is it possible to post a video that shows how to correctly add Jewelcraft to Blender?
@AT-gu8by
@AT-gu8by 4 жыл бұрын
Download the Zip file from the above link Peter posted for Jewelcraft, on github. Scroll down to how to install, select which Blender version you need Blender 2.80 JewelCraft v2.5.0 or Blender 2.79 JewelCraft v2.2.1. Don’t open it directly in your download folder and Do not unzip the zip file either, as it has to be installed as a zip file directly in Blender in order for it to work, if that makes any sense. Open up Blender go to edit in the menu bar scroll down to preferences, select it then scroll down to add-ons. In the add-ons panel press the install button, you will then see A panel of your computers folder directory appear. Navigate your way to your downloads folder select the Jewlcraft zip and press the install add- on blue button. Another panel will appear with the Jewcraft add on tick the box and close Preferences Press N on your keyboard to reveal the sidebar and select the Jewcraft tab To use it.

when using cast-able resin, do you add and print a Spru? Also, can you lay out and bright cut for Pave', is that possible with blender and jewel craft, rather than adding prongs?
@watchesandjewelry
@watchesandjewelry 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Travis. No bi don’t print a spru. Castable resin is much more expensive than wax. You can lay out pave. It is relatively easy. I can add that to a video. Thanks for watching and great question

@@watchesandjewelry thank you! I would love to see the pave’ video, and cast with stones set. Cast in place with burnable resin? This must be an extremely fast way of laying everything out. The wax spru makes sense. Thanks so much for the reply.

@watchesandjewelry
@watchesandjewelry 4 жыл бұрын
Ok. I believe the reference is for proportional editing. You can search there. If you are using blender 2.8 or 2.9 the tool I’m speaking of is in the upper middle section of the 3D view. If it is turned on, a small circle will appear and can be adjusted with the mouse wheel. If off, there is no effect. Search blender proportional editing on youtube

Hello Peter, thank you for your lovely video. I have a question; How do you make your diamond look like a diamond after you've down all the other work? I know how to do that with just blender but since i used the diamonds from jewelcraft, It doesn't function the same. Any help or any advise you could give me?
@watchesandjewelry
@watchesandjewelry 3 жыл бұрын
Lol. The Diamonds in Jewelcraft are rather dark. First. Select the Diamond. If you are using the pbr material addon I suggested then change the material to transparent. Then change the IOR to 2.46. This will make it a bit more refractive in the render and whiter than the others
@watchesandjewelry
@watchesandjewelry 3 жыл бұрын
If you don’t have the pbr addon. Assign a glass material to the Diamond and then change the IOR to 2.46
