Thank you for watching - I’m glad it was helpful. I’ll have some more data videos soon!

Does it work the other way around? If I modify something in Excel, does it save it into the Azure SQL table? I would need the sulution to this...

The Excel modification would not change the source - it’s pulling data. To change the source, you would need a live connection (and the permission to update as well)

Hi Frank, great video, thanks! Within the Get Data menu I don't see all the Azure menu items that you show, only the bottom 2. Any ideas? I was able to use a more generic connection but I'm hoping to use an AD username and password which is not available from the generic connection. You mention using AD, is that available through the connection you used?

Yikes! Sorry I didn’t see this comment earlier. I’m not sure why options wouldn’t be there. As a quick thought - is your Excel the most recent version?

@@LearningandTechnology my excel also does not show the option FROM AZURE, I'm using a Mac, is that a problem?

what if you are bringing in more data than excel can handle? Is there a way of live connecting to azure data?
@LearningandTechnology Жыл бұрын
You can directly connect - what may be an issue is if you attempt to pull ALL the data in a single query (which is not recommended for any data analysis). If you make sure to look at your queries and try your make them more efficient.

In 365 Desktop version, Azure only has Datalake storage and Data Explorer options. No Azure SQL Server. At least not on mine.

i got an error, it says that the database isnt accesible and it doesnt allow remote conections, and in the configuration of the azure sql server i cant find an option to activate it

There are two possibilities I can think of: 1) if the database is not accessible, there could be a firewall issue on one end or the other. Port 1433 is the default port for SQL Server - so that needs to be open on both client/server 2) the username and password could be an issue - however, if you are not being prompted for this, then I suspect it’s a network/firewall issue first

Does excel has to be opened so that the connection will be updated every 60 minutes? Minute 3:20
@LearningandTechnology Жыл бұрын
Yes - Excel controls the data pull. It will connect and refresh when you open it
@M1and5M Жыл бұрын
@@LearningandTechnology is there a way to refresh it without the need of excel being open? My Query is taking 2mins+ and its annoying to wait when you open the file and want to look sth up.

I think in case you are using office 365 - the full connection menu options do not exist.
@LearningandTechnology Жыл бұрын
The web version? Yes. The Web version has less menu options for sure. If you have an Office365 subscription, you should be able to download the full version and use it though.
