Use Painter's Drop Cloths As Anchored Outdoor Curtains

Hi guys! I decided to use painter's drop cloths as curtains for our outdoor living space. Drop cloths are the perfect curtains and super affordable. All of my supplies were purchased at Lowes.

Those O-clip anchors are really a game changer, that was the best solution I've seen to this problem in all the videos I watched. Great work.

As a suggestion, end caps can be purchased at the stores in their small parts aisle to finish the ends of the conduits. The painter’s drop cloth is great canvas waiting for a DIY’s imagination. Good project!

What a great idea to anchor the curtains!! I have seen outdoor curtains blowing in the wind and they can create quite a bit of havoc. I love drop cloths. They can be used as terrific makeshift slipcovers. They can be made in to floorcloths. As you said, you can paint them. You can dye them. They are nearly indestructable and so budget friendly.

I did this, but I used the IKEA net curtains, and I used ribbons as tie backs. I like the netted curtains because it allows the light to flow through. However, I like your idea of anchoring much better.

Especially if you add a bottom to the curtains you can add in weights and/or magnets to help secure to the metal.

okay so I love this. Because I actually don't have a covered porch. I am actually going to buy the drop cloths. When ever I have parties outside I drape off my uncovered patio with curtains they are black, And they are costly and thin. The painters cloth is perfect. I have rod back drop room dividers that I use to hang the curtains on. But now hmmmm you just put the icing on the cake for me. Thanks so much for sharing.

Self tapping sheet-metal screws will save you some time. They drill and secure in one move. Great video btw!

That is a very good idea to anchor the curtains at the bottom and at the middle. I used drop clothes for curtains last year and I did not anchor them. My curtains got damaged from being blown around in the elements and are not usable this year. Tfs!
