Fascinating! Please, a Xylitol safety warning (as I mentioned in your other “badger training” video 😊): Xylitol can be fatal to dogs and potentially other animals (not sure which if any). Some brands of peanut butter contain it, so be SURE to check your labels. Thank you! ❤

i would imagine reminders would havr to be seasonal, as new generations come through. ever thought about electrifying other sections of fence or putting something to put badgers and hares off? seen badgers eat eats, that could be an idea too. or, but badger gates where is smells of badgers?

Yes, I too wonder if the parents teach their offspring or if it is a matter of each generation needing to be trained. No idea!

Ah, thanks for that. I have not had the pleasure of seeing them eating. On our trail cam, they just walk around and chase each other sometimes!

We don't have badgers in NZ, but I'm curious what stops hares and rabbits from using the gates?

I have wondered about this too. I think they just don't like to push on things with their noses. That's the only explanation I can think of. Not sure though.

Why have a door? Is it just that the hares can’t figure it out and the badgers can?

Hi, yes that is the general idea. I think hares just don't like pushing things with their noses. It does seem odd, but it works well.
