I've never seen a weaker diamond press before. I'd like to see this line break work against an aggressive well executed diamond and one. Its very dependent on personnel on both ends.

Morgan, the defense sets up in whatever press they use. the offense will counter with this press break. not the other way around

why does a press work? indecision by your opponents, creating doubt. once a team turns to the ball over a few time that creates doubt. if whole court doesn't work you have 3/4 court and then half-court

we practiced a 1-4 press breaker for 2 days, loved it, looked great, everyone picked it up. But practicing the press breaker in practice against a second-string defense that does not press really did not prepare us for an advanced press. This is very difficult.

The 2-2-1 press covers this without even having to make adjustments. Every pass they made in this video is the EXACT spot a well ran 2-2-1 player would be.

The key to this press break, is to have the defense not really try. So you have your 5 handling the ball during the man to man press, which is fine if he can handle the ball. But usually the 5 is the last person that you want with the ball bringing it up the court. If it's an over pressure man to man, just get the ball to your best ball handler, and clear out. As far as the zone press, in a 1-2-1-1 the second guy back is supposed to step up and cover the middle, if all the offensive players are up. If he doesn't do that, then it's easy to break. Not trying to knock the press breaks as they do work. Just knocking that the defense is letting them do whatever they want.
