Simply wonderful!! Abingdon, Virginia would be a wonderful place for a workshop (😉😉) Historical Quaint and beautiful town with places like the Martha Washington Inn, Barter Theatre, William King Museum of Art, Wine Vineyards, Creeper trail - just to name a few. For food - The Tavern of Abingdon is out of this world amazing. It is also located in one of the oldest buildings in the area (west of the Blue Ridge)

I don't use the word "color" any longer, I say "pigment" because it is more important to understand the pigment and its effect upon color mixing than the color it actually is once used.

Timmer - Ive been watching your videos for like 10 years, man. And you dont seem to be aging... Question: in the last decade did you happen to find a simple-looking gold ring? And in said time, has said ring become precious to you? Also, are you a Hide and Seek champion?
@gagnonstudio
@gagnonstudio 3 жыл бұрын
hahaha, thank you I appreciate that. The aging thing is most likely due to not having children. At least that is what people tell me. But you are very kind to say so! I may or may not have a precious ring, I don't want to say in case there are orcs lurking .

Me, I call white a colour because lay people do normally, for example, when talking about colours of flags. Everyone would call the Russian flag as colours white, blue, and red. When I buy paint, I would regard all the paints on my list as being colours, when others would more strictly call them hues. No matter. I like using only two huey colours as you describe. I paint quick watercolour portraits and I find that the only two paints I need for the complexion are orange and green. Different combinations of them with different amounts of water give all the lights and shadows. Lips, eyes, and hair need other paints. Crimson or similar usually for the lips and then I might add a few dashes of the crimson into the cheeks, ears, and neck, to give a touch more ruddy colour. Sorry if that is too much information. Best. I like your channel.

Really awesome. I am wondering what sort of rhythm leads up to the point that we saw in the video. Do you begin with a simple division of two values: one for the cloud and one for the sky? Or provide yourself with a bunch of random contours initially to get yourself started and then highlight them the way you showed in the video?

Really appreciate your video (s)! . Just double checking before I give this a go- when your going back over the mid tone ‘cutting out’ more contours with the highlighting ; is this wet on wet or did you let it dry and do it as a new layer ?

Is it easier to blend color on a canvas then on a panel.
@gagnonstudio
@gagnonstudio 3 жыл бұрын
With oil paint I'd say it's equally as easy. With acrylic I'd say it's easier on a canvas because of the "tooth" you are able to scrub a little more.
