If you are going to post a how to at least read the manufacturer’s directions Do not wrap around pipe Place in parallel on bottom of pipe

We use this in refrigeration too. For us it is recommended you keep the heat tape at the bottom of the pipe and not to spiral it

@@AverageReviewsYT oh some genius used an indoor junction box. this was a 30000 sq foot freezer. After 20 years enough ice built up in the box and shorted all the heat trace line. I probably still have pictures somewhere. that was a 3 week job.

I’ve also seen heating cables that are actually inserted into larger water pipes running from outside sources like wells or lakes . It would be great if this channel covered that sort of rig. Salut man!

I'l look into it, thanks man!

I’ve heard about these things being fire hazard and in certain areas in New England they aren’t allowed or insurance won’t cover you if it is a cause of a fire

Can I run it back over the same pipe as long as it’s not touching the same wire due to it being longer than expected? I did and hope I get some good advice.

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and do not wrap the heat cable around the pipe. Run it down the length of the pipe on the bottom facing down. If running vertically, it doesn’t matter but don’t wrap. Electrical tape is fine if you are attaching to copper but use zip ties of attaching to PEX. I’ve heard that the adhesive in electrical tape can leech into the PEX over time.

I never realized that the thermostat has to be taped to the pipe. The heater I have was a hand me down without instructions. Thanks...

We use the wrap around material on all our pipes here in Canada due to the 4 seasons. The pipes that lead to the outside have shut off valves to prevent freezing & bursting.
@Got2Learn2 жыл бұрын
Sweet, it's not a bad idea, I am in Canada too and we always get bursts here, good job Bill.

the braided heat tape as far as Superior it can wrap around itself to protect valves and such don't wrap that stuff that you showed around itself it could short out

The proper way to install these heater tapes is in a straight continuous line on the bottom of the pipe not wrapping it around and around
@garagekeys2 жыл бұрын
I don't think you are supposed to wrap them around the pipe as pictured

It very practical any mobile home and houses that have a unheated crawl space, they are required if you live in the north. It not a issue of finding the cold air that coming in. When you are talking about areas that have sub zero temps for weeks or months, if the area with pipes is unheated your pipes will freeze
@jaycru617510 ай бұрын
You installed that incorrect. That specific heat cable is not supposed to wrap around pipe. U obviously didn’t ready the instructions
