was addicted to what i called a trifecta Meth, Opium, Alcohol. I also suffered severe depression and cptsd, i went to a party and consumed about 2g of shrooms i was lost in my head for 6 minutes but when i came back my depression and addiction to my trifecta was gone. I didn't realize it at the time. The psychedelic experience is temporary but many people have good permanent results. 8 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.

Thanks for sharing your story. That's rough I sympathize. Save your health save your mind. Life is better without heroin, cocaine, alcohol and cigarettes. And you have more money in your pocket. God bless everyone who has rejected the devils intentions to be addicted to alcohol and cigarettes etc which can cause so much damage to health. I will pray for you all.

Ive done shrooms last month. It taught me how severely traumatized I was from alcohol. I healed from many mental traumas from my past and was able to forgive, let go. Shrooms to me is a natrual healer. I even felt more refreshed the morning after. So no hangovers. No depression mood for days. No anxiety. I now have a more calm mind.

Been clean of the hard stuff for years but i had been struggling really hard with the bottle and kratom the last few years. It feels good to feel more normal. Only stuff i take is caffeine and kava nowadays and im feeling so much better already. I feel much more accountable having spoken up and being dead serious about my addiction. Ive been arrested, gotten a dui, been in fights, been a borderline abusive jerk...enough is enough. Im nice and very productive normally until the bottle touched my lips.

I’ll have a year on March 25th. I’ve lost so many good, good friends to addiction! I feel like I’ve made it out somewhat intact. I’ve taken the steps, made use of therapy, and immersed myself in a fellowship of recovery. I live in a recovery house (Oxford-there’s probably one near you). I’m learning how to live without shame. I just hope that you never ever give up on yourself, that you never stop trying. We can make it through this day
I Love Russell Brand’s vocabulary as much as what he’s saying. Gracias Russell 💜

I just woke up this morning (shall I just leave it there?) and thought, my life is fucked and is damaging, not only to me but those around me through addiction and unfulfilling activities. A lot of what that Russell Brand character guy says really resonates with me. I was a good person once, and can be again maybe? I'll watch some of his stuff as he's clearly spent a lot of time experiencing similar shit to me. Well, here I am and thanks. I think I might try and enlighten myself. I'm not at all academic but I understood every word of this conversation, and all of it makes sense.

Greg Smith it’s impossible to get clean alone. As Russell has said previously, his best thinking got him to the state of rock bottom. Drug taking is a symptom of a spiritual malady. The 12 step programme offers a solution and the fellowship of NA or AA offers a wealth of support and guidance on tap, all free. I wish you well 🙏❣️

The two of you are beautiful together. It's also interesting to me to see that when speaking with Jeff, who speaks slowly and calmly, Russell appears to speak in a manner that is slower and calmer than his usual self. This is actually wonderful for those listening to the conversation because Russell is a brilliant man with with incredible knowledge and facility of expression, but not everyone can process the information as quickly as he delivers it. And some of the information can therefore be missed on the part of the listeners. I don't know if Russell is making a conscious effort to speak calmly and more slowly but I can definitely say that when speaking with Jeff, this side of Russell comes out. Thank you both for your wonderful work and God bless! You are both beautiful in all possible ways!

@16:40 The interviewer Jeff made an EXCELLENT point about applying the 12 steps to a country and using step 5 to be accountable for the harm caused by that country. Brilliant! Unfortunately, I think Russell missed the opportunity to explore what he brought up, and instead went on an adjacent point for whatever reason. I was truly surprised because I really admire and agree with 95% of what Russell says. Oh well, at least Jeff brought it up. If you read this comment, please consider your country's need for atonement in order to truly resolve the spiritual/emotional/psychological issues it has that are probably the symptoms of not addressing those imperialist/colonial/capitalist wounds.

The caveat (asterisk) with these kind, wise and generous videos, is that most people who suffer from addiction aren't rich, handsome, charismatic celebrities who can start on the road to recovery by spending three months in a luxury rehabilitation facility receiving daily therapy and quietly contemplating their beautiful surroundings like Thoreau at Waldon pond.
