Common-tone voice leading for the win! Always found it tricky with extended harmony shell-chords. Thank you, you’re one of the best out here!

I am a big fan of inversions in voice leading on guitar.

It astounds me how the two ends fight the middle: musicians who 'only want to create' and don't want theory, and theorists who think it's all about rules and never trust their ear. And the answer is so simple: Zillio's Law-compose from theory, check it with your ears.

Great video ! 👍 Personally I don’t dislike the sound of parallel fifths or octaves in chord progressions. I make sure to always keep the voice leading BUT if I need to go from C major to D minor, sometimes I can go straight parallel and it don’t sound like crap to me. But again I don’t do it too much…

I agree. It depends on the context

Ciao 😃 what do you think about the Messiaen modes applied on the electric guitar? I know that many organists use these scales to create friction in their improvisations.. I just want to ask you.. how to make those scales sound melodic? or maybe is better to focus on the rhythmic patterns while playing? some of them are symmetric like the hexatonal and diminished and I think that they're just tensive since they generate tension without resolving to any grade of that specific scale, do you think it is better to insert them surgically in a modal approach like playing h/t diminished on top of a dominant 5th that later resolve to the root, or is it better to create real improvisation on top of a pedal note? I think that holdsworth used this kind of approach, that's why is hard to decodify his phrasing, or maybe was just anarchy? thank you for a possible answer, you have the greatest music theory channel for guitar I have ever seen, you and Marco Fanton are my favorite channel for music.. congrats for real!
