One of my closest friends is a very well-cultured European who taught me, among other things, that champagne was for everyday and it really changed my mindset (along with Marie Kondo) about using the special and wonderful things in our lives all the time. I gladly wear my luxury makeup everyday, even to run basic errands, and I feel great doing it!

I'm trying to use this palette for everyday just to justify the spending, it's pretty versatile, I find even the more out there shades work, I can use it them more casually than I can use juvia's place, cause those are so vibrant, I seem like I'm going to a festival or something lol

Love this concept! If the panning community has taught us one thing, it’s that it takes a lot of effort to use up products. So why save those luxury purchases for a special occasion, when all it means is more left when they’re finally too old to use? Plus, even through the course of this video you were learning how best to work with the specific formulas, so the more you dig into this palette, the more likely you are to bust it out for a special occasion and be really happy with the look you create.

I love this idea of USING the palettes instead of saving it for a "special" day. I've been enjoying the eye looks in your recent videos so I'm happy to see this one finally go up! I say, use the glitter shade - you already have it and you can't take it back now. As long as you don't buy any glitter in the future I think you're good!

Absolute beautiful look, you're so creative! As far as the glitter goes, the palette is already made and you've already purchased it so I can't see what purpose it would serve to get rid of it. You've let your viewers know that it IS a plastic glitter, so everyone can make their own decision at this point 🤷♀️

Yes!! I never understood why people splurge on an expensive palette, just to use it on special occasions because they’re afraid of using it all up. One, you’ll most likely never finish an entire palette. And two, even if you did, you know you definitely got your money’s worth! Win-win.
@nataliamaroldo58145 жыл бұрын
You are still disposing of the thing that has the glitter- the damage is kind of already done. I think the best and least wasteful solution in this case would be to discontinue any future purchases with plastic glitter, not necessarily disposing of everything in your collection that contains it. :)

In terms of the blendability of Pat McGrath matte shadows a senario that epitomises this is the other day when I used the dark brown from the divine rose on my outer corner and screwed up my placement and thought it would take ages to make it look good but it blended seamlessly and quickly and I was stunned by how easy and foolproof it was. In love with my palette! 😍🥰

Re: the pewter brown, I felt pretty similarly to you (and still sort of do), but - also like you! - resolved to use this palette for more than just weddings and special occasions a few weeks back. In my opinion, it’s one of the most “work friendly” glitter shades in the palette. Like, I can’t show up to the office for client meetings with crimson eyeshadow on my eyes; however, if I’m mixing the two matte browns and using pewter brown to subtly zing up the look, it doesn’t look too bad (think something similar to your halo eye). I loved the theme of this video, so thank you! And I’ll def be experimenting with that second look for an upcoming event!

I am loving your content since you filmed the glitter video! I had never even considered microplastics in my makeup besides loose glitter. It had made me think more about my makeup collection and do some googling as to what is micro-plastic free! It has however led me to find out that highlighters can have microplastics in them too. This may break your heart (as it does mine) that, from what I have found out, I think Becca uses Nylon & Polyethylene in their highlighters *commence ugly crying* It makes me very sad to share this info with you :( but bottom line is that you're amazing for trying to reduce your microplastic consumption and have inspired me to do the same! xxx

I totally agree, I bought a PMG palette because I thought I could use it along with the rest of my collection for my everyday makeup use because that lets me justify the price I spent on the makeup (haha)-one thing that I love is that the PMG eyeshadows are so interesting that it has forced me to be more interesting with my everyday makeup! I’ve challenged myself to wear some color (which I never used to do) to use of some of the shades like the olive green. Now my makeup is something that I wear for self expression and I’m not wearing it for other people as much

Oh Lauren.... I am a Nurse for over 25 + years , when I worked in the ER, I took care of a 28 year old girl and she came in with a copious amount of eye makeup on and she had been crying so it was all down her face and it had a lot of shimmer. She kept saying " My eye, my eye it was her left eye it was very red and blood shot. The ER Doctor looked at her eyes with a special lamp and she had a pretty severe corneal abrasion in her left eye and a small one in her right eye. This is a very painful condition she was given numbing eye drops and some pain medication and had to follow up with an Opthamologist ASAP. I think it is very brave of you that your spreading the word about glitter being potentially harmful .

I'm wondering if the best thing to do with plastic glitter that we already own wouldn't be to use it in a craft or permanent decoration. I have a small amount of resin crafting supplies and once the glitter gets encapsulated in resin then it never comes back out to get into the water. It's probably best to never but it, but at least this way the glitter is contained and it's not just enjoyed once.

It's particularly sad cause I think it's the only Mothership palette with glitter and that particular shade isn't extraordinarily glittery or shimmery compared to her other shades which are mostly made with mica and synthetic mica. I am personally keeping mine, but I do hopes she continues to use mica in the future and it's just a blip.

Don't depot the palette, the mattes will crack and the special shades don't have a regular pan (they seem to be baked onto a plastick backing). I think the best is to just ignore that shade, i don't even use it because it fells gritty and not as nice and smooth as other eyeshadows she has.

I would keep the palette as it is even though you don’t like that one shade has the glitter. We know you’re trying not to use plastic glitter anymore but don’t be too hard on yourself. You don’t have to do everything perfectly immediately. Somehow nowadays that’s expected, but I think it’s already great even if you aren’t doing things ‘perfectly’. Just remove the glittery shade in a way where you don’t flush it through the sink and if you were to buy another pat mcgrath palette in the future check for the glitter. Making the effort todo better is what matters, doing it perfect isn’t and comes with time I guess.
