Fake a slider move with JUST the tripod..... While holding the tripod and arm.... balance the tripod on 1 or 2 legs depending..... Let go of tripod but hold onto the arm....now lean tripod forward and tilt the cam same time. Not the best....but if no resource and want to add little motion..... quick hack

Interesting...... I often use the monopod as a dolly zoom by leaning the monopod back then forward. Works a treat if you can keep the camera level - using the gimbal would improve that shot immensely! Thanks for sharing

Technically, what you’ve done here is turn your gimbal into a jib, not a slider. On bigger shoots with big jibs, you can remove the arch by putting the jib on a dolly, and moving the dolly forward and backward in time with the rotation of the jib. But this is a good trick if you don’t need the camera to move in a straight line.

Great video. Thank you. I just purchased a a crane v2 and use a Canon 5D MarkII on it. It does not work and I was ready to return it - just too much shake for a gimbal to have to be honest. I am a realtor using videos to sell my real estate. I have an iPhone 11 pro and an Osmo 3. I am also about to get a commercial license for my Mavic 2. Currently I am considering a tripod purchase and was going to get a slider I could mount on the tripod. What tripod do you suggest and what pieces would I need to employ the hack you suggest of using my osmo 3 with the tripod in place of a slider?

Jeven. Don't have a gimbal yet, but am wondering about the "arc" or "bowing" you describe here. Do you think that adding an extension --- between the gimbal handle and the tripod --- might lessen the arcing effect ? Or would it just make it worse ? Seems like it would have to change the effect --- one way of the other. Thanks for an interesting video !

Yes You are right there is problem in the changes of distance
@MrMilanina
@MrMilanina 6 жыл бұрын
The distance will be changed as soon as you move it, even on the real slider. You would need to follow the pattern of a circle, with a center of it where the subject is, in order to keep the distance the same.
@ManoloFloyd
@ManoloFloyd 3 жыл бұрын
For product videos you could measure the center of the circle made by the tripod/gimbal system and place the product there, then shoot with he camera pointing towards the middle point. Then it will maintain the distance. Other than that, I'm afraid you will have to close that aperture in order to increase field
@jorgenmalmo

I also attached a screen (wired to the camera) with a clamp and arm to the crane arm and technically it works and let's you see your shot and make sure you are in focus, but it is very heavy and impossible to keep a steady shot. With a tripod this will work without question. Going to try attaching the clamp, arm, screen to the tripod. I will keep you posted.
