Thank you! Doing this today in England! My husband is british and he likes his roast Potatoes. First time for me doing them as I'm Spanish and we cook the potatos different. Husband had an accident and has been in bed for 45 days so thinking on cooking his favourite foods to cheer him up. Thank you for the clear video it's what I was looking for ♡♡

Aww, you’re more than welcome. I’m so glad that my video has helped you. You’re right, us British love our roast potatoes, especially on a Sunday! They are a fine art. Steam them for as long as you can, before the potatoes begin to break up, but just holding together. I wish you luck, please let me know what your husband thinks of them. I wish you both all the best, and your husband a very speedy recovery. Thanks for supporting my channel. If you need any more tips, do let me know 🙋🏻♂️😀RTF

I’ve been par steaming my roast potatoes this way via the TM 31/TM5/TM6 for 18/19 years but don’t use flour. it is just brilliant! Par-steamed other vegetables in the Varoma tray at the same time makes dinner easy peasy plus the vegetable water is great for using to make gravy whilst I roast the spuds sprinkled with my homemade herb salt seasoning in my halogen oven. Yummy yummy happy tummy
@RichieTheFoodie2 жыл бұрын
You’ve definitely got much more control when steaming rather than boiling! Sounds like you’ve had every TM model there’s ever been! As for using vegetable water for making gravy, that a fantastic idea! I’ll be borrowing that one. Thanks for sharing. Also, thanks for stopping by and supporting my channel, I appreciate it 🙋🏻♂️😀RTF

@@RichieTheFoodie from your mouth to G-d's ear, my friend. Supply side issues . . . On a cheerier note, Thermomix USA finally got in some carry bags. We don't seem to be using the black ones anymore. who needs a thermomix to steam or boiled potatoes an then finish them up in a regular oven, what is the point ?
@RichieTheFoodie Жыл бұрын
Nobody does. It’s in the title- use your thermomix to ‘help’ If you have a tm6, use that steaming function to help achieve some good roast potatoes. Thanks for stopping by 🙋🏻♂️😀RTF
@tjoftjof2 жыл бұрын
So you steamed the potatos in thermomix and do the rest in oven. You can use €/$10 all purpose pot and have the same effect.
@RichieTheFoodie2 жыл бұрын
That’s exactly it. I’m simply highlighting one of the many functions of the tm6, this being the steaming function. Thanks for stopping by and take the time to leave a comment 🙋🏻♂️😀RTF
@MsHeulwenhaf2 жыл бұрын
So a saucepan would have done the same boiling job?
@RichieTheFoodie2 жыл бұрын
That’s a good point. The less moisture in the potato, the crispier it will be when roasted or fried. Sure, you can boil in a pan, but the potatoes take on much more moisture - hence using the steaming function on the tm6 Thanks for stopping by 🙋🏻♂️😀RTF

I don't get why to use the thermomix in this? It's basically being the most expensive pan of water ever. For some reason when I clicked I was interested to see how it would make the whole recipe, not just steam something. I think even if I owned a thermomix (which I'm thinking about, so found your vid!) I'd still just steam the tatties over a pan as normal - less faff, and looks more secure.
@RichieTheFoodie Жыл бұрын
That’s a fair point you make there. It’s just finding another use for the tm6 to help you along in the kitchen. I totally agree, if all I used the tm6 for is steaming a pan of water, it would turn out to be a very, very expensive steamer. I use the tm6 on a daily basis. Anything from kneading, blending, or following a recipe on cookidoo. Hopefully you’ll decide to buy one, you won’t regret it! Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts 🙋🏻♂️😀RTF
