@whacky pax Nope. he was a lot salesman and he didn't know ed. Look at his body language. Watch what he does with his hands after Ed doesn't reciprocate the handshake... he pulls up his pants and plays with his pockets trying to find something to do with his hands to try recover from the handshake attempt. He also legitimately fetched his boss because he wasn't sure what to do, not because it was a setup. Note how Steve's hands are behind his back while the boss is there. This is his body communicating that the situation is now in the hands of his boss, and thus Steve is not going to do anything (hence having his hands behind his back)
