You might want to check out the Engineer PAD-13 crimpers, they also have a smaller interchangable die for sale for smaller wires. I did a lot of dupont connectors and jst connectors when I was rewiring my 3D printer and it is the best crimper I have used.

The back of the unit should have dialetic grease onit and be mounted onto metal to help distribute it's heat through the subframe. It's now in a enclosed box and not in airflow and nothing to help ditribute it's heat. that's gonna over heat.

I don't think drilling holes through the rear fender and mounting bolts that point down towards the tire is a good idea. There is always a chance that you might bottom out the rear tire while riding. I'd suggest using 3M Dual Lock instead. Very strong and easily reversible. Also, if you can, find a spot to mount the RR that gets plenty of airflow. Lack of airflow is the reason most RRs die.

Oh man, the grommets on the back. I hate them. Why did they make it like that?

Hi! Would you describe the link from where you bought the regulator? Thank you.

Thanks! The bike in question is a 2001 model, although I understand that this same procedure should be broadly applicable to SV650s of almost any year.

Would the rectifier cause me to not get a spark at all?
@AaronAverett4 жыл бұрын
Not directly. You may not get spark if the battery is dead, and a failed regulator could cause that, but you also would not be able to crank the engine in that case.

@@AaronAverett do you know what could cause it not to fire I'm getting fire to the coils but no spark on neither plug new coils new plugs I've traced the wires they are I'll in amazing shape the bike tires over great gets gas just no spark
@AaronAverett4 жыл бұрын
How are you determining that you're not getting a spark at the plugs, but you are getting the spark signal to the coils?
@stormlang44234 жыл бұрын
@@AaronAverett I believe it's my cdi box I can straight wire my coil to a pos. Source and it will fire but I was riding and all of a sudden the bike back fired and shut off. I put new plugs and coils and still no fire. But I'm going to try changing the cdi just really didn't wanna spend the money unless it's for sure but thank you buddy

The crank trigger is also a possibility, but I'm inclined to agree that it's more likely to be the igniter. Still, you might at least check that the crank trigger didn't come loose from its mount or something.
