I always wondering about the tail lights configuration were so different in some countries... For me always wanted the config of that particular model, 5 brake lights 4 turn signal and 2 big reverse lights... I had a Montero 98 in Costa Rica basically with the same tail lights but mine had the top blacked without any plug... Make the modifications, but for brake light... Great truck by the way... reliable, smooth and easy to fix.
