That dead silence at the end until the mic drop says it all. No sound from the audience until it was really finished. Incredible.

Man there's just something about this band. You see photos of them and promotional material for them and you'd swear their a Japanese Slipknot, and then you sit down to listen to their music and are just absolutely floored by its beauty and richness. It's that feeling when you realise music is an art form, that however few, their still exists artists that are not soulless cheap manufactured garbage made for corporations profit and a frontmans ego. This video was what I needed to keep any semblance of my love for music alive.

He doesn't summon these emotions to supply the performance. He summons the performance to cope with these emotions. This song in particular seems like a goodbye to someone.

The most interesting part about this performance is how he changed the lyrics in the end part. The "original" lyrics are basicly just a very painful and creeping end that doesn´t seem to give any silver lining, in this performance however, while not being exactly positive, he still puts out a bit of a silver lining, making this a still hard and painful but a "completed" goodbye. That´s what I always loved about Dir En Grey, the first two years of hearing them I never bothered looking up lyrics, when I finally did, turned out the songs where exactly about the stuff I was thinking they where, and which is,to this day, fascinating to me is. Kyos ability to put a bit of a "silver lining", I would call it "positivity" but its not really that, into very sad songs. He is one of few people I know of that can be optimistic, pessimistic and a realist at the same time.

To me, the best music comes from those who can use their music to elicit those emotions and inject them into their work. Music resonates best when it comes from the hearts and minds of the musicians. By my standards, any one piece can only benefit from musicians who put all of themselves into their music. I think that's why I used to listen to a lot of Marilyn Manson when I was in high school and college. I still enjoy his slower paced, more thought provoking songs because I feel in his own way he also expressed his emotions through music well and the kind of problems I was going through back then caused me to recognize that. I feel Kyo, as well as Dir En Grey as a whole, do this more naturally and successfully than even M.M. Even though I don't speak or understand Japanese, I've never felt the need to look up any of Dir En Grey's lyrics because the emotions expressed within their music (especially Kyo's voice) are already self-explanatory and deliver all the emotional resonance I could ask for.

I think their music has reached a new level over the past years. his voice is so different than when that song was released, somehow softer, somehow darker, absolutely haunting. Kaoru and Die play even more complex arrangements, and Toshiya's and Shinya's timing is so fluent and natural. They're in synch, they're one, not five.
oh my gosh what the heck is this!!! WHY NOW IN 2019 IM FINDING OUT ABOUT THIS . i HELD MY BREATH THROUGHOUT THE PERFORMANCE AND LITERALLY FELT EVERYTHINGGGGGGGGG JESUS! Beautifull!!! Holy SHIT, what an INCREDIBLE fucking performance dude. Talk about the hair standing up across your body and holding your your breath while watching this masterpiece of a band. Zakuro (this song for those who dont know) was the very first song i ever heard from these guys back in like 2004 and have been listening ever since. Seen them live 5 (or 6?) times, even caught one of Kaoru's guitar pic and at a different show i legit saw Toshiya and DIe walking around SF before the show and just gave them both the biggest hugs lol no joke, but i can tell you from experience from every show ive seen, they all put on a performance just as amazing as this one was. Best ever. But damn i wish i saw this live! i thinkk this is the only band i know that has NEVER had a line-up change since their band was formed in 1997, and they're still putting out albums! Straight up my ALL-TIME favorite band ever.
So emotional! I don't understand a slightest word but this song touches me so deep.People who say"I don't like because I don't understand the lyrics" say bullshit because you don't need to understand the lyrics to love and be touched by a song.Good singers are the ones who succeed in transmitting emotions whatever the language.

I've been following since around they first released Macabre, when JESSICA was released some months later as a brand-new single. I probably have it somewhere. His voice was SO different in these "new" live videos, I actually thought it was a cover except for the telltale guitar. It doesn't sound like him at all! His breathing support and diaphragm work has paid off significantly since then. You wouldn't know that he had a severe ear injury some years ago and had to cancel concerts because of it. He could barely stand up. It was so bad. And they're so strong now! I went to their concert when they came to America some years ago- amazing. You're in for a real treat!
