But five years later is still five years later regardless of Asian vs. Western age. Since she wasn't pregnant beforehand, kid should be four at most by Western age. Kid shown here is clearly much older, 8-9 years old at least. Also, the father is just as smart as his wife. Throughout the series, it's shown that he has a nearly photographic memory, has incredible problem-solving skills, and can always say the right words to talk his way out of a sticky situation, leaving his enemies fuming in rage but unable to say anything to counter him.

the biggest plothole is the ending. It was said 5 years later, after Zhao Gaolang ascended to the throne, they suddenly had a kid who actually looked around 7 years old.. Definitely not 5 y.o.. When did Yuru get pregnant? She was always on a mission, or in exile, how could suddenly they put a 7 y.o boy as her son??? Nevertheless, I love the overall relationship between the leads and the support characters. The acting of superb casts, save the show

I've readed the novel. There the boy is the first child of Wan Zhi and Ye and "Jin-er" (the name Yuru tell here) is the first daughter of Jiusi and Yuru, both babies are almost same age and Gu couple don't have a boy as first child, they only has Gu Jin by the end of the story. 🥰✨ just FYI
