There has been vampires in movies, tv show and in books who can reflect their image in a mirror as well as stand in sunlight, eat garlic, have "holy" water splashed on them with no ill affect and so on. It all depends on the creative differences of the person(s) who wrote the books, tv shows or movies. Bram Stroker the author of Dracula laid down the foundation and lore of Vampires but, it doesn't mean every new creator has to stick to exactly to his wrote though. Poetic license and all you know.
