I am a former member of GAEREA, blackmetal from Portugal.. GAEREA played with batushka twice in Portugal: RCA club Lisbon and Hard Club Porto while I was still a member. This sounds exactly how it should assuming it is the same composer, so IMO, Krzysztof Drabikowski is the true composer here.

Actually, I also have a band, somewhat influenced by Batushka, Deathspell Omega and Blut aus Nord, with our own little twist. One thing is arguable and it is costumes -Drabikowski says he is behind costumes, Bielemiuk says, that Krysiuk is behind them, so not sure about this... But about other points of the post I'm certain. I think it is not really important who booked the concerts, who popularized Batushka etc. It is not a boy band :D Only thing I think is important is who made the lyrics, melodies and whole atmosphere and that is Drabikowski for sure - you can hear it for yourself if you compare this album to Krysiuk's song Btw, I fully agree with Drabikowski, that shows are not that important.

@@willrfrench There's a legal battle going on right now about who owns Batushka and the copyright. Krzysztof kicked Bartguy out of the band, then Bartguy kicked Krzysztof out. Bartguy has control of all the old official social media and the band, and they are signed to Metal Blade Records who, in spite of legal documents saying that Bartguy isn't allowed to release shit under the name "Batushka", is releasing the new "Batushka" (which, tbh, sounds pretty fucking crappy going by the music video). Krzysztof is fighting to get back what is rightfully his. He did fucking start the band, it's his fucking idea. That's one side of the coin. The side I'm on. And listening to this just made me even more sure who the actual Batushka is.

In my opinion, this is the best opening I have ever heard to a metal album, the wall of emotion and the sheer atmosphere it sucks you in from the very beginning is unlike anything I have ever heard before. В октябре 2019 года моя бабушка, живя в другом городе, сказала мне по телефону что у нее рак кишечника. И что требуется операция. Я ее поддерживал и подбадривал как мог, говорил о том что все получится и что все будет хорошо. Положив телефон на стол, меня хватала паника, я не знал что мне делать. И мне было очень страшно ее терять, потому что очень ее люблю. Приближался день операции. С каждым днем я волновался все сильнее и сильнее. Затем он наступил. И спустя сутки после наркоза она очнулась, и слабым голосом сказала что операция прошла успешна. Я был очень счастлив был услышать, и стал тихонько радоваться тому, что скоро она выздоровеет и я обязательно ее навещу. Проснувшись утром на следущий день мне звонит дедушка и говорит что бабушка умерла. Я никогда так долго не молчал. Больше всего я не мог понять, почему так случилось? Ведь операция прошла успешно? Но в последствии выяснилось, что пока шла операция и подготовка к ней, она совсем не пила таблеток рассасывающих кровь, и как результат умерла она не от рака кишечника, а от тромбоза... Сразу на следущий день после того как я услышал что она вылечила свой рак... Я собрал вещи и полетел в Саратов, оттуда еще 3 часа до города где она жила, потом на следущий день похороны... И вся эта история к тому, что музыка играющая с 07:46 до 11:42 лучше всего описывает то, что я чувствовал в тот день. Бездонная, черная и поглощающая скорбь. Злоба, обида, сожаление, отрешение от реального мира, непонимание того зачем нужна жизнь, и ведь на фоне всех этих темных чувств, словно маленький лучик в далеке - надежда. Надежда о том, что сейчас с ней все хорошо, и что сейчас она в лучшем мире. Каждый раз когда я слышу эту песню, я плачу. Спасибо тебе Кристоф. Берегите своих родных.

I saw them perform Panihida the other night in Manchester. Perhaps one of the best live acts I’ve ever seen. The way they played sounded just like it does on record. I couldn’t recommend them to a metal fan any more than I do now.

@@Voidward How has Metal Blade done anything "distasteful" whatsoever...? They signed a band that wrote music for the label. The only thing the band is fighting over is the name. It's not like they're stealing the music. Metal Blade has nothing to do with and no interest in their name dispute, because they signed the musicians for their music. If they have to change their name, they're still signed to Metal Blade, and still wrote their current music. It's ridiculous to drag Metal Blade into this, unless they get involved with the legal case themselves. That has nothing to do with Metal Blade as a label.
