Sooo the boyfriends mother turns up without warning, interrupting Andy's meeting where she is obviously respected then gets her back up when instead of letting her sit there as her boyfriends mother silently Andy asks that the BM go to a restaurant while she finished up her meeting and even offers to pay...and the BM is unhappy that Andy doesn't bend over backwards to cater to her..? Andy is intelligent and well respected in her field, as a fellow business woman you'd think the BM would lose some of the entitlement she wraps around herself with such self-importance as someone from old money when dealing with Andy who is the very definition of self-made (her inheritance from her grandfather not counted). And then calling her son to 'dob in' Andy and complain to get her piece in first and make her seem the victim in this, instead of there only being an issue because she's *creating one* to make Andy look bad to her son. She turned up unannounced and expects Andy to drop everything to cater to her and gets angry when Andy doesn't include her in a meeting as an 'elder' when it has nothing to do with her and in fact might make the other people uncomfortable on the off chance that they're discussing something that she shouldn't hear that could affect their business. And how is she supposed to introduce her? As her boyfriends mother who wants to listen in or possibly as the CEO (?) of a family business (a rather large one, but still) who may be in direct competition or have bad blood with them without Andy realising. It's an unfortunate truth that nepotism rarely works as well for women as it does men. Her actions as a fellow business woman truly both baffle and frankly kinda disgust me with her double standard and self-righteous hypocrisy.

I'm guessing the boyfriends mother realises that trying to get her mummas-boy son to dump the 'inappropriate girlfriend' isn't working so she's now doing everything she can to make Andy's life difficult so *she* breaks up with *him* because otherwise she's a moron and apparently a terrible business woman who is also a terrible judge of character if she believes Mrs Wei over Andy. In many Asian cultures it's *expected* that business dealings are discussed over a meal and alcohol, which is no doubt something the boyfriends mother has done in the past herself, but apparently when it's Andy it's a clandestine affair...in front of a room full of business associates because that's totally sexy 🙄 . I do feel a bit bad for the boyfriend though; unlike most mummas-boys he does stand up to his mother and seems to genuinely be trying to build a communication bridge between the two it's just that the mother's constant shade throwing and double guessing Andy's every move and Andy both knows it and is getting right sick of it.
