As far as I'm concerned her decision was heartless. The man who raised her all these years, she postponed getting help for but chose to give the man who rejected her and is dying of cancer, one of her kidneys. I think it's all because of the guy she's still in love with. This scene is showing how many hearts she is breaking at one time for a no good reason.
