I feel that this story is totally under appreciated. Like the action in this manga is some of the most hype and thrilling action I’ve ever seen in any piece of media, and the story goes extremely deep as well. It’s just so poetic, that Kei is trying to retain his humanity and life throughout the course of the story, despite the ridiculous situation he’s been put in, yet in order to beat Sato, the inhuman monster, he has to cast aside his humanity and shoot himself in the head. To begin with, Kei was already kind of inhuman himself, a borderline sociopath, but even when he does make the decision to shoot himself, there is not even any hesitation, akin to how Sato thinks. THEN, when Kei is finally able to confront Sato after that, the “inhuman monster” Sato loses in the most mundane way possible by passing out underwater, since he forgets the fact that he IS still a human; just like the viewer probably does after seeing him do so many insane things. And this is not even mentioning the constant motif of the forces that get sent to stop Sato and the Ajinns slowly becoming more dehumanized, from the extremely efficient SAT to the Self-Sacrificing Japanese Self-Defense Force to the completely masked and robotic Anti-Ajin Special Force, alluding to how inhuman we already are through our militaries and wars. Also, one more thing, I think its funny that the whole story Kei and everyone else are forced to use the tranquilizers when fighting Sato because they’re more effective than bullets for the most part and, more importantly, bullets can’t kill an ajin, much less Sato. But when Kei finally does pull out a real gun against Sato, he uses it to shoot himself instead, acknowledging that even if it destroys his brain, it can’t kill him either, essentially killing the old him that was still scared of losing his humanity. This can even be seen in the line that he says as he blows his brains out: “I’m an Ajin”. ALSO ITS SO COOL THAT SATO IS BASICALLY A REPRESENTATION OF A VIDEO GAME CHARACTER IN AN ARCADE GAME OR MARIO BUT THAT ONE IS PRETTY OBVIOUS BUT ITS STILL BEAUTIFUL OK I’LL SHUT UP NOW.

The manga is pretty well appreciated as one of the greats. The anime's just such fermented excrement in pig tripe that's been festering in the sun during the day and being the centerpiece for child sacrifice at night until it turned into an Eldritch putrescence of CG that it's unwatchable.

@@dienstaghd5815 I think the cgi was just too stiff. Like it didn’t fit the frenetic action that made the story feel so thrilling. I do think that cgi can be charming though, even if it looks semi-bad, like how it is in Aku no Hana. I just didn’t really like it here, also they adapted some stuff weirdly which I didn’t understand.

@@JustSomeGuywithEpicGrasses I feel that if it got a quality anime adaptation, it would’ve gotten more of the glory it deserved. Although, honestly, I also sort of appreciate the fact that it’s like a semi-hidden gem that you’ll only know is one of the greats if you read some manga.
