@@unibocchi Yes, this is the Splatlands, a semi-isolated portion to the Wastelands (Octoling territory) and Haven (Inkling territory), and the cephalopods here seem to be coexisting far before the other known territories.

in splatoon 2 the octolings all look really curious about the weapons. in splatoon 3 they seem to have adjusted and are just excited to be there.

It cats with the lore too. In splat2, our octolings only recently escaped from octarian society, which pretty much had them all be combat engineers. In splat3, enough time has passed for them to properly acclimate to surface society and leave their past behind

There could be 2 reasons why that is. One being spec ops for your entire life and then cutting loose after a while. Finally being able to take things easily. The other could simply be that a lot of civilians got to the surface after splatoon 2 who are just a bit different in nature.

I never realized how many animations were reused in 2 from the first game. I knew a bunch of stuff was reused or recycled in the sequel but never just how much of the game was reused. No wonder 3 feels like such a breath or fresh air.

I think considering they said "style", and the fact that clothes that change via the gender of the previous games, I don't think that really has to exclude style-exclusive animations. I think to make this better, while still providing fun animations, the style menu remains the same, but there's a third option for each species. The three options now depict "Are you masculine? Feminine? Or neutral?" This would fall more into the "style" and more how you act, rather than what gender you are. Then they ask "Let's hear your voice" and give the Boy or Girl, while also adding Neither voice. The style you chose will change how they act, granting two masucline and feminine animations in certain animations, while the neutral style is the animations we did get for Splatoon 3. This also would adjust the clothes that do change via gender, because let's be real the fact the two are separate, and thus you need to do double the grinding is gonna be some work.

@@jj8762 because then it relates to more people, helping those varying on the gender spectrum, binary or not, relate to the game better and feel represented and welcomed in a world where their expression is often dismissed. Especially in a game like splatoon where self-expression is such a big theme. A lot of people don’t really understand the “big deal” or importance of having less specifically gendered options in video games because your identity is already perfectly represented by one of those two options but its nice to be open and represent everyone even if you don’t personally relate or understand =)

am i the only person that really likes how the octolings look in splatoon 2? the skin tone looks more cooler toned and i think it looks really nice imo, yeah the inklings/octolings have more warmer skin tones in splatoon 3 cause its made a lot nicer (cant say the same for the servers rn) but i like the aesthetic of more cool-toned skin in the earlier games (even if it looks less life-like, but ppl irl do have cooler toned skin so i dont think it makes them look non realistic or anything)
