Peach's entrance is cute, and Samantha Kelly saying "Hi!" makes Peach's entrance my favorite. It's tied with Daisy as she spins out of a shower of flower petals and enthusiastically waves to the camera, yelling "Yo-ooo!". I was kinda bummed that unique on-screen appearances and the announcer counting down from three before the start of the match were removed in Melee. I was happy it came back in multiplayer battles as of Brawl.

Same here. For Ultimate Daisy shouting "YO!" is my Favorite Entrance when the Battle begins.
It’s amazing to see how many animations have gone unchanged in the 10+ years since Brawl.

I actually think that's a bad thing. But I'm at least happy they've changed move animations in Ultimate for characters like Mario who've been rocking the same animations since Melee

Thats actually very lazy and bullshit. But cmon its nintendo, they get off the hook with everything. Literally everything.

@@keon200 It really all depends if there's a drastic change is necessary for the character's intro. Adult Link often gets the most because the incarnation and their stories are very different each version that warrant changes in his intro.
Great vid! Seeing the difference in localization (especially Pokemon) is fascinating! It does become a bit repetitive by the time you get to Villager, Ultimate/SP didn't change a lot...
Entrance animations were in Smash 64 in Classic Mode and Vs. Mode. Melee had no unique on-screen appearances for each character because all playable characters were trophies brought to life in that game. The on-screen entrance animations came back to Brawl and the Melee characters that were in that game have their own on screen appearance for the first time ever. Smash 4 brought back Melee veterans Dr. Mario, Mewtwo, and Roy after skipping Brawl, so they get their own on screen appearances which Melee lacked due to rushed development. Ultimate brought back Young Link and Pichu after skipping Brawl and Smash 4, so they get their own on-screen entrances with are actually remakes of Link's and Pikachu/Jigglypuff's entrances from Smash 64. As of Brawl, on-screen appearances only appear in multiplayer battles while the Melee classic start took over that in single-player mode.

I always assumed that Melee didn’t have entrances due to its quick development time.

I don't understand why TP Link in Brawl and Smash 4 didn't teleported from the Twilight Teleport like the one in Bridge of Eldin stage... It makes a lot more sense... Btw, love how they added the "light of time" to young link from oot link from smash 64 which he had no original entrance in melee besides the generic "trophy comes to life gimmick"
