I've owned many bikes of various brands in over 40 years of riding and I have to truthfully say that the 2021 V Strom 1050xt that I currently ride is the best one of all. The extra 2 inches of suspension travel over my previous road bikes makes for a great ride and yet it handles brilliantly. The very strong and torquey engine with it's gear driven cams is a pearler and is the main reason I bought the bike. The really strong thick frame too is nobody's bitch. No complaints here.

I have the same bike in same color with akrapovic. I now made 6.000 kilometres and I can tell you bike is amazing. It does all really great, suspension is great, also on bad roads, quickshifter is amazing, power is enough (sure 10 PS more would be nice) and you can really push it hard. I had the 2019 Vstrom 1000 XT and this new one has lots more to offer also power is a lot more since you can push that tourque to red line and it does not loose power like before. I had the new 2022 KTM 1290 Super ADS, for 7.000 kilometres and it got stolen. Sure bike was a bit quicker, but suspension riding solo on a bit worse roads in some Alps pases was really jumpy, quickshifter was not that perfect. So I actualy like few things better on Suzuki. Also brakes are great. So good job from Suzuki and I can tell you I really do push the bike hard not just slow riding normal riding.

My brother sold his 2010 1050 because of it's top heavy bias of the fuel tank. I'm glad Suzuki have sort of addressed this issue. I'm a fan of the 650 as it has a slightly longer wheelbase and is more comfortable to ride, is better balanced and easier to move. Just my opinion and I have owned both.
@ioandragulescu6063 Жыл бұрын
that is strange. I own a 2019 650 XT and when testing the 2023 1050 (non DE) I noticed the opposite. That despite it's extra weight, it's a nimbler and more agile bike, even at slow speed maneuvers, it feels phisically smaller, even with bar risers on my 650 (2cm back, 3cm up), the brakes are on a different level, the front forks are stiff and give more confidence and so on. Also, after a 170 kms run on the 1050, I felt less fatigued afterwards compared to mine. The only thing I had to complain about was the extra heat from the motor. And I am pretty sure there were no 1050s made in 2010 ... I think you ment the "old" V Strom 1000.
@arnohag1 Жыл бұрын
@@ioandragulescu6063 yep was talking about the older 2010 VStrom 1000. By the way they are both the same capacity. Also had the 2019 wee Strom XT which was far more comfortable than the equivalent big brother. It's longer wheel base makes it a little slower to turn. The 2019 bigger Vstroms extra weight makes it more planted however seat as hard as a 4x2 plank of wood and seating position was less comfortable. I'm over 183cm and have longer legs. Yes more power but with that reduced fuel economy. You either like it or you don't.
@ioandragulescu6063 Жыл бұрын
@@arnohag1it's strange how the smaller bike fits a taller rider better. For me personally, fuel economy is not a big issue so in the end I guess it's as always: to each is own :) ride safe

Good review on the 23 Strom Kate, just swopping to a 23 model after previously having a 21 XT, I loved that bike but I found the spoke to be a bit of a PIA. Your right about the saddle height, suzuki may claim its the same as the 800 but no way does it feel the same, I do however love the riding position & how you feel like your sitting IN the bike as opposed to being on top. I alos prefer the new TFT screen, its just a shame Suzuki dont allow more joice in colours & not keep certain colours available for the road version & other colours specific to the DE model.

I have the 2024 Suzuki V-Strom 650XT. In 3 years i will be off my power restrictions and i'm thinking the 1050 would be a fantastic upgrade. But i hear a lot of people praise the 650 for its agility and commuting prowess (i ride to work every day on my 650 and i am a devil through traffic). I just wonder if i will be disappointed with the 1050 in some ways? I know it won't be as maneuverable as my 650. But is it worth the sacrifice?

The best Adventure bike on the market (for me). I love this colour, the styling is dreamy! and the motor sounds great. What i'm not so keen on, is all the Electrical stuff. I grew up with no ABS, Linked brakes, TC, Ride Modes etc. etc. However, what I do like on modern day bikes, and will use out of all this new fangled stuff, is the Rain Mode and, what's important for a man of my age with slight arthritis in his hand, is the Cruise Control. Usually i'll set it all up to what suits me best and leave it there. I also thought that despite its height, it does't let you think it's so high. I put that down to the fact through it's styling, it seems as though you are sitting in the bike and not on it. Anybody agree? If this bike does not become the top seller in it's class in UK, then i'll blame it on those buying BMW (sorry Kate). That Brand seems to be very much an "IN" bike that all want to have, that's judging by the number of them I see over here on the Continent with UK plates. As usual, a good and detailed description by a very capable Lancashire Lass (is Bolton still in Lancs?) of a bike that would melt my heart if I was lucky enough to own one...., for all donations, my Bank Acount number is..., no, i'm only kidding! Ride safe.

I ran on down to West Virginia, picked up a 95 Honda cb750 Nighthawk. These are available all over the place for around $2000.00. Ok My Nighthawk (named West Virginia) ~ $600.00. 30k miles and in good shape. No title, no keys, now registered Antique here in NH. Just clean out those four carberators. Now comes a 98 Suzuki Bandit. Way way too clean to pass up. Odometer at 22 miles, maybe 20k true miles, new LED light, (naked) and no paper, $900.00. Two bikes for $1500.00 US.... I'll tell ya. I used to consider Vstroms as a budget-friendly option which, because of that, could be forgiven for being less capable. I've owned two of the 650s, both purchased new from dealerships. This 1050 is MORE than DOUBLE the full cost of either of those. The new models may be wonderful, but if I'm going to pay that much I'll be looking more closely at Yamaha, Honda or BMW before committing. Great walk-around from you, Kate. Thanks.
