just for anyone who doesnt know, to make sure james and mike dont confuse people, alot of people think you can throw gief for free. Truth is that after gaining control of your character again (any reversal situation) there's exactly 2 frames where you are throw invincible. SPD is 2 frame startup. On reversal it actually isnt a free throw on gief, contrary to the commentators beliefs. :)

It's true man. Had this discussion with people quite a couple of times now, originally this mechanic was explained to me by veggey (best gief in europe) and after people on.. I dont remember but some facebook group were like "naaaah it aint true blabla" veggey checked with Snake eyez too, said its true. Also go in training and do reversal spd on a recording of a meaty grab. It'll always work.

***** What do you mean with “not immediately”? It looks pretty immediate to me… but this does mean that you don’t have to get reversal timing to uppercut out of it on your wake up, there’s a 1-frame leeway.

That 5th match, when Xian landed raw anti-air mantis super, into ultra, if he had just switched stances and done the vertical falling Oga, he would have chipped Snake Eyez out, Zangief's lariat cannot save him. Not to mention, Xian doesn't neutral jump enough, Gen's jumping medium kick in mantis actually beats out the lariat. Gen's foot will hit Gief's head, allowing for a free combo. Though in a long set, Snake Eyez would have caught on to the neutral jump and did jumping headbutt as a counter.

i think one reason gief is so intimidating is his whif puniush capability... champs like sim and seth actually increase the range of his spds, if timed right..

Is it just me, or is the footage sped up a bit? Whenever I play fighting games the movements and attacks seem much slower than in all the videos.

That's so wierd cos I always seen it the other way. When they play I see time to special cancel, Fadc, punish any move. When I play I see the same opportunities in fast forward so I can never react the way I see it possible here. Always feel much faster when I play
