who’s gonna say i’m “testing the condition” when i “accidentally” put my club in the sand when i go down into it

You should also say how many penalty shots you get if you do.

Can you sole your club in the bunker (10 ft away from your ball or anywhere not directly in front or behind the ball) to get your grip?
@apaulmcdonough2170 Жыл бұрын
NO, you can't touch the Surface of the Bunker when preparing to play your shot. Taking your grip is part of preparations.

If your ball is touching a loose impediment (a small stone) in a bunker and it would likely interfere with the ball direction when a stoke is made, are you able to lift ball, remove stone and replace ball; replace ball if moved in moving the stone; or just play it as it lies?
@somerandomguy22265 ай бұрын
I think u have to put the stone in your foreskin and place it back after u hit

Well, you grounded the club in the bunker. Breach of Rule 12.2. 2 strokes penalty. Bunkers are tough. Wouldn’t try it in a tournament.
@brewtalityk8 күн бұрын
That rule was changed in 2021 I believe. Look it up

Hmm I had to check but I just witness on TV, PGA WT Hereo challenge final. an Justin Thomas take two (2) swings and bladed the club each time in the sand next to the ball with the commentators watching and tiger woods in the booth dec 8 2024, is this now legal?
@earlyfrosttКүн бұрын
Was most likely a waste bunker which is a naturally sandier area of the course not considered a hazard. You can ground your club in them

Whats penalty for grounding club or testing the condition of bunker? I played in tournament and guy clearly was raking the bunker before his shot testing the depth of sand and even changing the lie. He bladed it anywyas but seems he was in violation.
@usga Жыл бұрын
The penalty for grounding your club or testing conditions in a bunker is a General Penalty, which is 2 strokes in Stroke Play and loss of hole in match play. (R. 12.2)

@@usga What if the director of the tour deemed the round lift rake clean and place in bunkers?
@apaulmcdonough2170 Жыл бұрын
@@Cryptonomics7 I have never seen Bunkers included in Lift, Clean and Place. At best I have since individual Bunkers posted as "Ground Under Repair", so the appropriate Relief was available.

@@apaulmcdonough2170a Lift, Rake, and Place policy in bunkers has been more common in local tournaments at public courses due to the surge of new golfers/public play and general lack of bunker etiquette post-Covid shutdown. It all started because of no rakes being available due to Covid protocols, but it has continued due to the number of golfers untrained how to rake a bunker properly/oblivious that they are supposed to rake it in the first place 🤦♂️

Just pointing out that Patrick Reed wasn’t in a Bunker when he moved sand behind his ball. He was in a waste area. Just saying😀

What if after a shot is made, the player immediately repair the bunker with his feet, only to find the ball roll back to the exact same spot a good 20-30sec later.
@stewiegriffin36272 жыл бұрын
Such a strange rule .. Everywhere else on the course you can take as many practice swings as you'd like.
@apaulmcdonough2170 Жыл бұрын
Because Bunkers are a Different Area of the Course. Take your Practice swings Outside the Bunker.
