As children, we learned to sew on our mothers' motorized Singer versions of this beautiful machine. Everything from electric floor models to the Featherweight 221. Winding and setting front-loading bobbins and threading machines was quite easy. I don't know why people go crazy over that today.

I have bought your above mentioned sewing machine today. I am in Mumbai. Can I get any of your mechanic / technician to tell me once how to operate it. Earlier I had your old model machine which was different from this. For normal stitching on which number the lever should be kept? I did not understand about 'tension' which you mentioned when talking about turning the knob clockwise/ anti clockwise, after putting thread on the needle.

Choose no. 8 needle for lightweight fabrics similar to georgette or organdy; a 10 or 12 needle for medium-weight fabric; a 14 and 16 for heavy fabrics like jeans and 18 for very heavy fabrics. Lol the company who sells it doesnt know when threading the bobbin the thread goes to the chrome face plate guide down to the botton tentioner on the bed then to the bobbin , thi is why there are thread guide's on both sides of the needle bar cover AT THE TOP , they ran it direct to the botton tention then to the bobbin

Straight Stitch machine only does straight stitching. Yes, the foot can be removed and changed but only the same foot can be used with the machine.

Errors and semi-errors in the video: When showing bobbin winding they describe the winding stopping automatically but in the video they stop the winding before the automatic stop (2:01). When describing threading they describe threading through the check spring but they entirely skip the check spring (3:20). Later, when describing the tension adjustment there is a check spring visible with thread through it, but the machine is threaded in a completely incorrect way (4:18). Later, the machine is shown threaded without going through the check spring and no check spring visible (4:28). In my experience, most Indian sewing machine repair people remove the check spring and/or don't use it. Similarly, although not detrminable in this video, many Indian machines are missing the tension release pin. At least some Indian mechanics throw away this pin when assembling machines. Assuming that the tension release pin is missing, then the advice that the machine be threaded with the foot up, is not relevant. Lifting the foot releases the tension so that the thread better goes through the tension disks. If there is no pin, then there is no tension release, and lifting the foot during threading serves no purpose. I am interested in the reasons that Indians neglect the check spring and tension-release pin even though the machines are designed to have these.
