Thanks for the video! I'm online reading info before starting to fill my 1lb Coleman tanks with this same exact adapter from Amazon, which came with no instructions.... so, 2 questions - 1) The adapter came with a roll of plumber's tape. Do you think it's helpful, and should be used on one or both tanks while filling? 2) You mention the gauge indicates the smaller tank's fill level (which would be great), however I read another reviewer's feedback which said the gauge measure's the bigger tank's level (which I wouldn't find nearly as helpful), and he had suggested weighing your 1lb tank when it's empty with a small digital scale, and while filling up. Empty weight is about 16.4 oz depending on brand, full weight is 32oz. What are you thoughts on the gauge & plumbing tape? Thank you!

Hey, there! So, I wouldn't bother with the tape, as it's just a hassle, and I haven't noticed any gas getting out while filling. I'm pretty sure the gauge is supposed to be for the small tank, but I also typically do a post-fill weigh-in to see. You're 100% correct about the weights so, if I'm close to 2lb, I'm happy. I have found the odd tank only wants to accept 12-14oz, rather than 16. That doesn't bother me much, as I can refill them again once they run low. I really just use these tanks for my portable bbq (when I'm going somewhere and don't want to haul a 20lb tank with me), my Grilltorch for starting charcoal/fires, and my Bunsen burner in my yeast lab. Since I'm not having to fill super often, I don't mind if the tanks don't get totally full. Thanks for the comment, questions, and kind words! Hope this helps. 😁

@@ThisDadGoesTo11 Thanks for the quick feedback on the tape! I watched another video and have (2) 1-lb tanks in my freezer & thought I was ready to refill them, but then saw lots of conflicting confusing info from people's comments. Some people are saying you need to release gas or liquid, some are saying there's 2 different valves, 1 being a Schrader valve, the other being a pressure relief valve. Some people are saying to use needle nose pliers, others are saying to use an allen wrench, and they're each saying one option or the other works or is better. Omg, now I'm not sure what to do! I have 2 brand new Coleman tanks, and a digital scale.

Do you have to freeze the small tank or does it just help?

@@rudybarrera6273 You don't have to, but I believe it helps with speed and filling more fully. Something something physics...🤣 Thanks for the question!

I just tried this for the first time. It was kind of a hassle but I got them full using the flame king. Then for a week I kept smelling something in the shop. Today I filled some Fuel Keg bottles with their filler. I picked up the Coleman bottles and one was almost empty. Another was no longer fill. , So never will I refill the disposable ones

@@AreWeThereYet-2025 Oh, man, that sucks. The valve on them must not have closed properly somehow after. Brutal!

They say NOT to refill them. I know people that do. I researched it & they gave number of reasons why . That's why they make the refillable canisters. They😮⁸ are way over priced.

Yikes! What about using screw-on caps for your refill bottles? I bought a set of caps for mine, however I haven't tried filling my tanks yet... I'm online here reading info before starting...

I just tried mine on 3 empty 1 pound tanks and nothing. Great pressure from the 20 pound tank and then when I hooked up to the 1 pound tanks zero propane flow.
@ThisDadGoesTo11Ай бұрын
Whoa, that's weird. I wonder if it's an issue with the adapter or the tanks...were they nice and cold? That helps with the flow, in my experience. I usually have good success; I did have a tank, one time, that only partially filled. Hopefully, you have some success, to make purchasing the adapter worth it.

Same thing happened to me today. It was 29 degrees out it would hiss some then quit
@ThisDadGoesTo1126 күн бұрын
Hmm...was your tank at that temperature? If so, that could really slow down it's ability to transfer. A way around that would be to set your tank inside the house for a while to let it warm up to room temperature, then take back outside to attempt the fill. Not sure if that helps or not!
