Excellent video with very practical information for those interested in learning about Humanure and composting toilets. At first I thought, was that view really necessary? I mean, leave a LITTLE to the imagination! Then I was glad I hung around long enough to learn all was not as it seemed! Lol. I felt I was watching ROCKET SCIENCE regarding trajectories and projectiles, LOL. Thanks for your #1 and #2 tips (had to smile at those references). Hey, it is what it is, and you addressed it! Thanks!

TY Gramma, I'm just going to try and have some fun while sharing tips. I did decide to go and change the thumbnail just in case. LoL I would have had more fun and been more relaxed if i wasn't trying to beat the battery life on the phone. I'll get better some day.

You don't know how much your blessing means, I have a dozen dwarf fruit trees that are 3 years old and doing very well at the moment, fruit drop is happening, but it's the SQUIRRELS I have to keep at bay. More blessings for fruit please!

Lol now that’s Graphic…a very useful video this has been going on for centuries…I can recall in Germany as a. Child having to use a community stall in a apartment complex of four buildings in the 50s not fun late at night as a small child or in the snowy winter months more useful and sustainable as well as water savings not waste! That I have to pay the city…love it

This is the best video I've ever seen on compost toilets. I am buying materials for emergencies. People don't think about where they are going to go to the bathroom if they don't have water. Thank you for your video. Can you give links for what you use to put in your toilet and also what you mix your spray up with?

You can make your own lacto using the soil from your yard…the process is called Korean Natural farming and it uses indigenous microorganisms (IMO) from your property and surrounds. When you buy the spray, you’re not knowing where the IMOs are coming from - so to by pass that, make you’re own…it’s not difficult…and dirt cheap!

Well said....IF you explore this channel a little bit more then you should be confidant that I do culture my own microbes and yes i practice KNF and JaDAM much. Cheers!

Great video thom! Henry woke me up at the 11:50 mark! Loved the reference at the 16:00 mark 'the space between the equipment and the battleground' Loved your good posture tip too. to quote you.."look, nobody else is gonna tell u this" LMBO :) We have a composting system too, yet it is not completely refined yet! thank you for your video and tips! :) You rock thom!!!!!!

LoL......this may be a little TMI but I actually had an incident just the other day when SOMEONE didn't change out the bucket OR warn me that it needed to be done and therefore equipment accidentally reached the battleground. I know....TMI BUT hey!....No one else is going to tell you this stuff. THAT was a very important tip my friend. LoL

Look up Korean Natural Farming and/or Indigenous Micro-organisms (IMO). It’s real easy to make :-))

Your welcome....just fyi....I will be upgrading my bins from fenced pallets to bottomless containers (Halfed IBC totes) so that there is direct contact with the ground. I will cover it in a vid in the future. THats' so bug, worm, and more microbes can enter into the pile. Just wanted to share that before you move on my setup idea.

Good posture and deposits. ha ha! Brilliant on the lactobacillus spray. Can that be used in the garden too? Years ago, I purchased way too expensive lactobacillus spray commercially made - for disinfecting and deodorizing. Then wasn't sure if those would culture into bad bacteria. Going to hop over to learn how to make your own beneficial lactobacillus and I"m sure you will explain how it works. Thank you! And very peaceful morning :)

Very interesting. Firstly, I thought you were talking directly to me, that gave me a jolt. Is Heidi your wife? I've never thought to use LABs in my composting toilet. but I will put that on my list to try, makes so much sense. I found your channel when watching the green dream project and I very much like it and subscribed. Your composting toilet setup is awesome. I'll have to implement some of this into my own, Thanks for sharing.

Hi Heidi. I would have to watch my own content but as of right now I don't recall mentioning any "Heidi" but if I did then I have no idea what I was referring too. In any case....I was legally married during the time of that vid but it's just now and has been for a few years. It would be a rare thing for most to desire a lifestyle such as I have now days and understandably so given the saturation of programmed materialism. If you do incorporate the LABs then you will most certainly find them to be extremely beneficial with a compost toilet as well as MANY other areas of life. Thank you so much for stopping by and your encouraging words. ;)

@@3basketliving Oh, funny, I thought you said 'how is that for sharing, Heidi?' It still sounds that way to me even after going back to check if I heard wrong. Anyway, I've just recently found out about Korean natural farming, and am in the middle of the Jaddam book (Incidentally that is my read when I'm on the privvy, don't judge! And yea it's a bucket and I 'flush' with carbon.)

@@heidiwilde5574 Oh yes....Of course. you did hear correctly. I was speaking to Heidi from the channel ' Rain Country ' out there in Oregon. Makes sense now......Heidi and Patrick. Anywhere you can gain something (knowledge) while getting rid of waste is a good thing. loL BUT it's NOT really waste if you think about it. Best fertilizer on the planet that most don't think about. Cheers!

Some observations 1) you don't need to spray before and after covering... I do spray sometimes but for the most part it isn't needed if you use enough cover material. 2) why rinse the bucket and not put on the compost pile ...throwing it into the woods seems wrong somehow...3) why not use some soap to clean the buckets? Have you read Joe Jenkins book?

Did you ever make the video for the lactose stuff? Really really interested want to have this ready for when we have our composting toilet in about a month. Any links where we can get more information. Thank you

Yes.....It should be the next video......It's turning out to be longer than I want again BUT it's to share my thoughts and understanding. I'm not much on entertainment....LoL....I would go back to watching TV if that was my goal. ;)
@blissfulacresoffgridhomest20986 жыл бұрын
3 Basket Living personally I use KZbin to learn not for entertainment. Love your videos the way you create them the way you explain things and the only thing I would suggest you do differently would be to have a links in your description box to either buy the product you recommend or other places we can go to get more information. Good information is worth watching a long video. Primarily I do videos so that my grandchildren can see them and hopefully be of use to someone as well but my quality of video isn't nearly as good as yours.

I made a compost toilet. I spray LAB right onto my feaces. My reipe for lab is from lacto-life.com. Can I use the finished soil from the eliminated waste immediately for veggies growing undergroud or just above the groud, or do I have to let it sit for some years? Some people say so-but they never mentioned that they spray any LAB on their feces....I'm quite unsure about this.
@3basketliving3 жыл бұрын
I would let it sit to finish composting and then I had no issues with using it when it was finished. I never thought there was any issues to begin with Unless the fertilizer was coming from someone very unhealthy.
