Here in the US we have something called Kinder Joy, which is a little different. The original Kinder Surprise is still banned, even though Nestle's Wonderball was a bit of a flop. For a bit of context Nestle reported to the FDA that the Kinder Surprise was a major choking hazard and had some sort of report showing a large number of kids choking to death on the toy capsule. Less than a month after the ban Nestle put out the Wonderball which was filled with stickers...

American Kinder eggs are 2 halves of plastic (combined to make an egg shape) one half has chocolate and the other has a toy. People not in the US seem to think the US does not have Kinder eggs at all. We do but they're a bit different.

@@brianrobbins1961 Kinder Surprise is a foil wrapped chocolate eggshell lined with sweet cream around a plastic pod that contains the prize. Kinder Joy is two halves of an egg-shaped plastic container, one side is mainly sweet cream and chocolate cream with cocoa wafers and the other side has the prize itself. Kinder Joy, to me, is sickeningly sweet and if I really buy it, I tend to just throw away the cream side and treat it like I bought a packet of Pokémon or Magic cards. On the other hand, I love Kinder Surprise.
