Late to the party but thats a Larson trailer and as far as the fiber count they dont decide that they are working for a prime or have a prime contract for a carrier the carrier decides the network architecture and the design they are placing what the print calls for. As for blowing fiber that trailer alone cost about $52k. I could go on and on but the yhe fact is the guy who filmed and posted did a good job.

Great video! I have a few questions. What kind of tape was that at the end? What was the tool that you used to cut open the conduit? What was the distance of the fiber push?

Hey Tim, thanks for watching!! But to answer your questions: the tape was super 88 electrical tape.. the tool is a conduit splitter.. and we actually have 3 machines and we pushed the fiber 15k feet.. with no bends and one machine this is a simple blow.. but with multiple bends say 2 the fiber will only move roughly 5 to 7k feet we're we are forced to set up another machine to continue the span, luckily we have 3 machines so we normally can do 15k or more

@@ImPlayy Thanks for the answers! I noticed the sponge. Are you using that to just spread the lube, or are you also using it to pull the fiber with the air pressure? Normally, I've blown fiber in microduct without anything pulling the fiber so that the air stream makes the fiber float. So at the HH where you position another cable jetting machine, do you figure-8 all of the slack as it is coming out? Or do you just blow it in and let it do its thing? I'm also curious about how you know how far the cable push will go and determine where to position another machine. Do you just guess based on the number of turns, or do you see how far it will go and just pull some back where you want to place the next machine? When you talk about bends, are you talking about the short sections of conduit you attach at the hand holes that create a bend, or just natural bends in the route? I wish I could come watch you guys. I've been interested in this stuff for so long! You guys make it look easy, but I'm sure it took a long time to get this good at it.

We send what we call a dry bird through first using only air.. this sponge will clean the pipe.. then we pour what we call slickem into the pipe that is prelube 2000 mixed 50/50 with water.. we load another bird we call the wet bird into the pipe now and use air to send it in 20 or 30 feet.. we add more slickem then we push what we call a finger into the pipe where we take a sponge and tie a rope around it we're it has 2 tails.. we take the tail ends of the rope and wrap them around the fiber in a figure eight form and tape it down tightly with super 88 tape.. wrapping it to the end we're u can't see anymore of the mule rope.. we push this in behind the wet bird and extra slickem and load this into the machine.. we start out with minimal air.. say 50 pounds or less.. with the machine not clamped down the fiber will start to float just with air pressure behind the finger sponge.. once we notice the fiber start to slow we turn on our tracks and tighten down the clamp.. but not even snug gust barely gripping the fiber..with this technique we can reach spedes of 310 ft. Per min. But we continue to blow adding more air and tightening the tracks depending on the sounds the machine makes.. listening to the Machine and having tight seals make the job easy.. but once the fiber slows to 100 ft. A min. We turn off the air and fall back to the nearest loop the fiber has made it.. at the beginning of the job I'll get the sequential off the fiber to understand how far I'm in.. then we either bust a loop and set up or we use an excavator to dig it down and connect another machine and continue the blow.. sometimes if there are multiple peds in a more crowded area we pre plan our set up depending on natural bends in the conduit and by the loops put on normally each machine can encounter 7 of these issues within a 7000 ft blow and continue.. is how I do my pre plan.. but once the fiber makes it to the end I get the proper amount of footage at the end roll it up in the pedestal or handhold.. determine if it needs anything like ground rod clamps wire or gravel.. then I'll move to the middle loop(s) individually starting with the one furthest from the initial set up and work my way back removing the couplers getting my footage splitting off the conduit and repeating the steps.. until all machines are tore down and the job is complete.. but the most vital it to listen to the machines and understand the sounds it makes and why correcting any issues before and try to never stop the fiber for a long period of time bc the slickem.csn dry within the pipe and that's bad for business..

And sometimes I figure eight it when we have more bends than the machines can handle.. or if we're setting up in the middle of a 25k ft blow..

@@fiberopticmissouri164 If we would do such a project in my country we would spend a few percent extra and lay at least 72 if not 144 count cables, not only 12.

The engineers who design the project decide that for us.. we just do the install.. but for this particular job it is a rural area with only 2 houses and alot of farm land in a span of 3 miles .. so even 12ct. Was a large fiber

@@fiberopticmissouri164 Hm ok. The planing department in my area like to think big then. Even if we only have a house 1.5km down a road the minimum is 72ct even if the customer only gets 2 fibers. You never know if in the next 20 years magicaly the people get interested in that piece of land and build 20 houses there :D

@@florichi sometimes the engineer will try to fit more than one cable in a single duct.i doubt that's the case with pedistools but I've done it on handhole jobs a lot. We used a y block for that. And I've put smaller cable than that in a single duct with a mini jet where the inner duct is the size of the cable they are installing in this video
