Good advice starting with bigger targets. Keeps morale up and keeps you coming back. People make mistakes thinking smaller targets will force you to be better but if you don't get early success people tend to quit. Good vid all around chief.

I tend to go overboard with the sling, is so much fun, I tend to burn out shoulder and back a little after about 5 hrs, then I get a bit mad I have to wait a day or two..... but will burn out fig 8, balearic, then underhand distance lobs....when one is gettin too sore, switch, and switch again.... would do it all day if I could. feel kinda cocky with it wrapped around my wrist and a few stones in the pocket. My good ol Assault style shoelace.... hehehe.

I find rotating vertical from the back and then side sling low with a knee dip gives it enough force to shoot straight down a line at the height of where you released. I have mostly done it with tennis balls but that takes way more power to get down field.

I have seen a video on KZbin of the Roman’s having used “Shepard Slings” but they used oval shaped (similar shape to an American Football) lead weights with a small how bored or present from the casting process, all the way through the lead weight causing a while pitch whistle as the projectile flies incoming and overhead. Part of the reason is suggested the high pitch whistle had a psychological effect on opponents. Also many Native Americans groups used the sling as well.
@davidblack62252 ай бұрын
“Shepard Slings” have a crazy fascinating history (and culture) and were a fixture within early armies. They were basically phased out due to the amount of experience needed to be a “military grade” shot, improvements in fortifications, etc.

I'm offer classes on how to use a Lumberjack technique ( yeah its my own style) Class is 1 week long. You will learn how to make your own sling. You will learn how to have bullets go 400 yards that 1200 feet. You will learn how to make bullets. Bullet types clay, lead, lead alloy, and rock. Class cost $1000 per person. You bring all your food, water, and shelter ( tent or camper) I will teach you the basics above. You will need to train for years to be proficient.
