It's hype in a sense that we have irrational emotions and sentiment towards it. We cant really see it clearly and therefore utilize it well. It's just because it's such a powerful technology relatively speaking. Radical leap from siri to chatgpt for example. If innovation stops and we go into an ai winter, it won't be due to lack of inspiration, it'll be due to the advancement of the field going too fast for people that have the power to stop it not stop it or slow it down..
