Looks very good. Once I can try it, I will do it. Many thanks.

Man, you might be my hero. An SCT and RC8 was kicking my butt last night. I'm going to try this with Firecapture tonight. I just couldn't discern the ring width or where it was not centered. So I'm going to give it a shot tonight. Thanks!

Wow, this can also be used on a Newtown scope too? Also can be used to check a refractor as well... Cool also if you own APT Astro-Photography Tool has this in it too..

Thanks for the tip on Astro-Photography Tool... For my SCT's, I'm now using a Tri-Bahtinov Mask that works well... Same principle basically...
@ozgurunaldi25 күн бұрын
How do you use the tribahtinov for collimation?? The screws are blocked when I put the mask, it's even a bigger pain to take it back and put again. 😅 Maybe you made 3 holes for the 3 screws with a drill? Why not? Just curious @@jeffrh

@@ozgurunaldi This tool isn't made for Tri Masks... There are videos on using Tri Masks on KZbin if you do a search for them...

Excellent Jeff. I am about to take my Hyperstar off: 1) Collimate the SCT by itself then 2) Collimate the Hyperstar after I reinstall it.

Make sure to read the whole thread and get the 1.1 version so that you can see the screw positions. The first link ( v1.0 ) doesn't have them. Is there a more current version?
@jeffrh3 жыл бұрын
There isn't one that I could find. 1.1 is it...

Jeff I think my corrector plate is out of collimation because I had to crank my Hyperstar adjustment nylon bolts until I ran out of adjustment room. Something is definitely wrong.
@jeffrh3 жыл бұрын
Dan, It could be that the corrector plate moved on you and put the center off. There should be enough adjustmanet in the corrector plate to get it back. Then you can do the collimation.
@dankahraman3543 жыл бұрын
@@jeffrh I will have to look at the corrector plate in the daytime

Will this work with Nina as it’s my acquisition program. I’ve downloaded the files but haven’t opened them yet. Super happy I found your video. It may seem easy but until you have nice stars you can then use most of your images for stacking.
@jeffrh2 жыл бұрын
Yes it will. You will need to have the auto stretch on and then set the exposure so you can see those out of focus rings and turn on the loop and then load Als. It will sit on top of NINA so you can get the circle set. If you happen to select NINA and loose Als. Just Alt Tab to get it back to the front. Clear skies.

Hi I’ve been using my 102 refractor lately. Soon I will get out the 8”sct . I have the asi294 mc and asi294 mm. They are not short exposure cameras so how do I get the image dim enough to see the rings . Thanks again.
@jeffrh2 жыл бұрын
Dan, you can use a combination of gain and exposure to help. Brighter stars will not be a problem with those cameras. Good luck with the new gear...

Cameron, are you finding regardless of what bright star you are choosing? They aren't round? Don't have a good answer for you on that one as I know know thing about your gear. Sorry...
