If you have an AED, the pads should always be applied. The AED will no shock unless it needs to get the heart out of a bad rhythm. There is no situation we’re you have access to an AED and you should not use it.

@@Master-ls2op With one of my 7 heart problems, you cannot use AED on me at all. And my heart specialist said I can't have an AED. That's why I say "Should talk about when someone is not allowed to use an AED at all. Only use and do CPR alone.".

about 90% of the time. i do not have a working or functional AED. pads, razors, battery, AED it self, are stolen. not maintained most of the time.

as long as you have full proper pad placement the bra is not a problem for aed. its when trying to do crest compressions if you cant get proper center of chest on the breast plate compressions.

It is possible the bra has a metal underwire, and it's best to not take any chances in messin up the aed. Might as well cut all the clothes for the best chance of survival

@@Master-ls2op This is why alot of women who need CPR are neglected and left to die unfortunately. The metal wire can affect the conduction pathway of the AED's electrical circuit depriving the heart of necessary electrical stimulation. If cutting and removing the bra marks the difference between life and death there should be no discussion, period. But people like you who turn it sexual make guys reluctant to help these dying women for fear of bulls..t sexual harassment charges. Charges that can destroy these guy's livelihoods.

​ @StoicCrane as one of the guys that got the bullshit sexual charges or accusation. i agree. however, the wire in the bra does not pay a factor. the wire is not exposed and to dot touch the pads for the aed. what the bra does affect is hand placement and the ability to get proper center of the chest nipple line or 1/3 from bottom of breast plate. Note in my state of MA as a Male instructor i an not allowed to say Breast Plate for it is sexual harassment of my female student. do not know how for males and females have one and its the best land mark for the task to use and easiest. The problem is when you have to go to court because sadly the legal system is not the best in the us for good Samaritan laws for Civil matters. if you use the Wire in the bra reason you will lose every time if they get a lawyer that knows what they are talking about and can get it explained to the judge or jury. If you use the in general the Bra will affect hand placement and cause problem with chest compressions then you will win every time. now i never cut the bra i just flip then up and out of the way. faster. i also try to not remove clothing that does not need to be removed. i want to be able to easily control body heat and not waste time. what some instructors that i do not agree with is remove all clothing. pants. their is no reason to strip a patient of all CLOTHING. i have even heard some say remove IED and tampons. THEY DO NOT NEED TO BE REMOVED THEY PLAY NO FACTOR. The problem is old training for females was not based of facts. however, feelings. back 20-30 years ago yes wire bras caused a problem or risk because the AED pads were fully exposed on all sides. Now they are insulated so once placed on the patient the only path is in the patient. another myth is check the breast to see if they are real. if they are silicon do not use an AED. this is not true. AED is not affected by silicon implants. you do not place AED pads on the breast.
