Got this pencil for my iPad Pro 12.9 inch 2017 since this was the generation before the bezeless 2018 iPad Pro came out. The pencil works great! Preforms almost the same as the 2nd gen.

I got the Apple Pencil 1st gen for my birthday after I bought the iPad 6 for uni (the only iPad I could afford XD). I don't regret it at all. I also bought a case for the pencil, so its not slippery while writing. I can really recommend it!!!

So, I’ve been looking for some videos to see what the Apple Pencil is like because I’m getting both an ipad and a Apple Pencil for Christmas, which I’m very excited about, but aside from that, this video helped me a lot, knowing that it only takes a few minutes to charge and lasts a while, makes me happy, i have a pen like stylus like an Apple Pencil, but, i don’t want to sound spoiled or anything, because I’m not, but, the stylus i have now, is a lot like the Apple Pencil but, it has a weird tip and you can only write from an angle that isn’t very comfortable for me, and hearing that the pen can get slippery because of its round body makes me want to maybe get a grip for the pencil, cause i am a very clumsy person and if i drop the pencil, i may break-

the way it charges in the lightning port is so goofy… i have a cable connector for the adapter so i always charge it that way. it’s also certainly worth the 5 or 6 bucks to get a silicone cover. the one i have also has a flat edge, and the top holds the cap really securely when it charges

@@vinous. hi! I've bought a paper-like screen protector 2 months ago. I wrote on it with a apple pencil for about 3-4 hrs a day, and it lasted for a month. My apple pencil nib is just ok. I could barely see any scars on it. I was worried about the same thing as you do, but now I think you could take it easy. Just for your reference. 😊

I bought a screen protector with paper-like surface. It works better with the art & drawing programs. You can get finer and straighter lines and the friction is just enough so it feels more like paper. They have a lot of them on Amazon.

I would probably get the Apple Pencil. I have never used any alternatives but Apple is probably the way to go. I don’t think cheaper ones would affect the iPad but I’m not sure how long they would last.

I just upgraded from 5th gen iPad to 7th, and got the first gen Pencil. As a writer, this really helps with jotting down notes and with the right keyboard, I can handwrite directly to text which skips a couple of steps for me.

Thanks for this! I just got a refurbished iPad Pro (1st gen) not long ago mostly to practice graphic art, and I was looking to see if I could find an alternative stylus to use with it before dropping like $100 (😩) on it.. Unfortunately there don’t seem to be too many alternatives with this model of iPad, but this reassured me that this pencil is probably a good investment anyway.. I just hope the nibs last a while!

I would say so. There are plenty of apps you can download. I recommend looking at some videos from an artist perspective. Procreate is a good app.

I use my 1st gen Apple Pencil specifically for art and drawing programs. It will color. It’s pressure sensitive, and you hold it at an angle for a thicker line. There’s some videos on utube to show you how. Also, I have a paper-like screensaver on mine because I found I needed that little bit of friction to draw straight and fine lines.

Good assessment, I initially got it to go paperless so I didn't have a bunch of index cards lying around with whatever info on them I wanted to refer to later. I was kind of hoping to see what the stuff in the box is, I see there are two ends, maybe one is a replacement charger port for the non writing end? I've only been using my 9th gen iPad for maybe a week or two now learning to use ProCreate, and the txtured screen protector I put on has already dulled the tip that came on my Apple pencil. Not complaining, the tactile feedback is important to me, looks like I should pick up some extra tips if the one in the box with the pencil is super fine, will probably wear more quickly.

I am not sure. Just have to try it and see. I have never really tried highlighting or underlining. I use GoodNotes 5 for everything. You can import Pdfs and mark them up however you want.

Yes, I d/led the note taker 5 app. There is a way to access material via website using your username and pw. I have not been successful with this. Neither website will connect to app🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

I've gone through 2 apple pencils and neither will connect to my brand new iPad air 3rd gen... Sent me out a replacement, and the replacement wouldn't connect either. I tend to have super bad luck with electronics but this is so frustrating.

Yea. You can get some cases that have pencil holders. I just toss mine in my pencil cup at home or backpack on the go.
