Match your Staining colors to the Effect Enamels and Modifiers in your porcelain systems. The lab technician is often faced with esthetic demands by a clinician and the patient. Knowing your porcelain system and your “stains” ( call them colors) ! Is essential in making an outstanding restorations. There is no question that a layered Zirconia crown with a good veneering porcelain, usually looks better in color depth and translucency compared to a Full Contour Zirconia crown that is “stained”. A correlation between the stain colors and the effect powders of the porcelain veneering material is essential and can help create lifelike effects. This may involve mixing a few stains to match tooth colors. Techniques will be shown on where and when to apply internal colors as a set stain, layered colors and external coloring. These techniques will help create depth of translucency found in natural teeth. The application of painting techniques such as “Photographic Realism” and “Trompe d’ oeil” (fool the eye painting ) to achieve depth and create forms create illusions with color and translucency. Coloring line angles to accentuate contrast and shape will be shown
