I’m using wheels on my midi keyboard to control dynamics and expression as I record into logic… sounds great as I’m recording in… sounds great when I play it back.. BUT… the expression and dynamic is somehow changing as I continue on with my song… I can’t figure out why. My song starts with loud pizzicato strings (on their own tracks) then moves into legato sections (on their own tracks also) then back to pizz again… I’m not going back and recording over any tracks to change the modulation data, but multiple times I export my song, listen in my car and there are no pizzicato cellos present… the dynamics just fall off and I have to reopen the project and wiggle the wheels to get them to go back… is there a way to “lock in” that recording exactly as it is so that it will NEVER change unless I record over that region?? What am I doing wrong?

It's difficult to come up with a conclusive analysis based on the info you provided, @loganmilesolson. However, it sounds as if the loaded plugin-patches didn't "remember" the MIDI CC assignments in your Logic file. In this case, I'd first check that the assignments - e.g. expression to MIDI CC 11 or volume to MIDI CC 7 - are stored along with whatever string patches (or others) you load on to the track. It's pertinent that those assignments are stored with the patch /sound file that you load on to each track. And of course, there can always be snags. For example, I remember having the hardest of times getting Spitfire Audio to play nicely with the MIDI CC I assigned to any given sound. Sometimes they did, sometimes not. But storing the MIDI CC assignment number along with the patch is crucial. Other than that and in order to be sure to have the recorded expression data recorded along with the notes, bounce each of those MIDI tracks as audio or "stems" at the very least. In that way, whatever you expression you recorded, will surely get exported along with the notes played. However, that doesn't solve the other problem. Again, my take would be that you hadn't stored these assignments along with the program (although some of the most commonly used ones should "default back" to their initial setting and thus be played back correctly). Hope, this helps. Thanks for your interest in this video.
