This video is the best video on intro to artificial light. The artificial academy is amazing anyone reading these comments.....it's kind of a one-stop shop for everything related to food photography! I joined a few years ago and it's still the best resource. Thanks for the video Joanie!

I just joined last week and I'm truly amazed how much there is to explore inside of the The Academy! The members are welcoming and the community is very active. Joining was definitely the right move. Now I'm ready to dust off the light I got 10 months ago!!! (yep, you see it right, procrastination at its best) and start using it. Joanie, once again you gave me the confidence to step up my photography game! Thank you!

A fun post, I save images and use them as comps for future projects. I'm the type that loves all kinds of light, everything from soft to more harsh because every shoot is different whether it's the client, subject or target audience.

I noticed that you called the foldable reflector diffusion material after introducing the parabolic reflector that you added to your light source. I think that's a really important detail because, it points out that even though it's designed to reflect light, the foldable reflector also serves quite well as a diffuser in your setup. In this case, using it as a diffuser makes the lighting more even than it would be otherwise.

Great Video! Is there a reason why you use continous light over flash light? Or was it just for this video? By now I'm used to work with flashes and I'm curious if there's a reason or scenarios where you'd recommend continous light over flash.
@TheBiteShot
@TheBiteShot 7 ай бұрын
i prefer flash for stills, but in this case for most beginners it's easier to see and understand the principles in play with continuous

Thank you Joanie for always sharing your wisdom with us! Quick question - Do you recommend a similar setup for when shooting video? I'm interested in replicating natural light with artificial light in my kitchen for my video content.

I like the content of your video, but I hate those B roll when you are not looking at the camera. It makes the video protection so old that it feel like we are watching cable TV. Beside that the quality of the picture and the sound are always gorgeous.
