got one of these but had the same problems as KmAlbum had. I have now purchased the upgrade kit well worth the money.

I have the same design one sip version from halfords Same problem lining up the strut to mount really fidly takes so much messing around to get it right. This tool makes the job much more harder. I prefer my hand one where i can contral the spring. Using shims as well has to be different sizes for different struts which is enoying.

i DONT like mine. I hate the part that it comes back down and you gotta tilt the strut right to get the top mount back where it suppose to be. It's kinda of a pain. For most struts only. Not all will do that but enough to be annoying. Might sell it to try the air hydraulic version.

I have one it a a piece of crap. tried it on several different struts. nothing lines up and you end up taking 3 people to even get stuff back together.

I would also agree, it's just a bulky piece of shit, not only will it take the paint off the spring from wrestling with it, the paint will be removed from the shock absorber as well, the best tool I've ever seen for this is the crocodile mouth shaped thing with a single thread through the middle, as it is easily stored in a shoe box.

Based on this video i bought one of these tools.defo the worst tool i have bought in years.get a different machine which grabs spring not strut as this is a clumsy piece of scrap that failed to work on four different struts for me.avoid and dont listen to this review which is misleading viewers into thinking tool is efficient.

+John Mc Grath I agree. I have the 2 piece heavy duty threaded rod one with 4 thick hooks. It lets me move the parts around as I like, and allows me to work on a table with the deadly bits facing sideways instead of up-down. Stay gold.
