The number of rows is determined by the number of records you have. So if you have 2 columns and 8 records, you're going to get 4 rows. Sure, you could limit the number of records that can be entered into the form, but that would require some VBA coding. But yes, it's possible.

You got the error that there is not enough horizontal space because in the page setup dialoge box you did not take in consideration the 0.25 inch column spacing. That would add up to half an inch. Thanks for your informative videos. I have learned a lot from your tutorials.

Just what I needed - I didn't realize that you had to be in print preview to see the columns. I think your math was correct - at 5:49 you can see that you have .25" column spacing. Wow! I can use access for mailing labels! What about pictures?

Thanks, this was very helpful. I just joined as a Gold member cause I'm working on a volunteer project with a local community cemetery and we are trying to capture all the old hand written and typed records. I have a table that has all the occupancy assignment list information, and a table that maps out the plots on an x, y grid (which is used to link the Plot, Section, Lot numbers between both tables). I have the tables linked (when a plot was selected the admin noted the Plot, Section, Lot numbers which uniquely describe each plot) , but couldn't figure out how to show a report that "looks like" the way the plots are laid out with the deceased and reservation names in them. After I do the report, it would be helpful to be able to show a combo box containing the grid view surrounding a selected name or names...that would help people see where there are lots they could choose to reserve near their family. Also, there is a legend on the original map of the grounds that has color coding showing which graves were there before a certain date, another color which shows plots that are too small for full 5x10 plots but could be used for cremation erns...(we have that information stored in a Plot Size Table with a selection pull down)...You have mentioned grave yard software, could you touch on these kinds of problems... It seems like there is an inventory table with x,y coordinates in it with size and other descriptions of the plots, and then an assignment table with is treated much like a sales transaction record...But somehow, it is important to see not only the remaining and used "inventory", but to see how it is laid out. I can do a scatter plot in excel, but wanted to keep it all in Access. Thanks very much. You do a great job of covering the material. Thanks

Welcome new Gold Member. Send me an email so I can set you up an account on my web site and send you some free classes. amicron@gmail.com. Your problem is a very interesting one and I'm intrigued about how to handle this in Access. Give me a few days to throw some ideas around in my head and I'll definitely put something together for you. In the mean time, here's a video I made a little while ago about mapping locations. You could use that and just store the pin coordinates of each grave site in your database, but that would only help you with finding one specific grave. You want an overlay of ALL of the grave sites. Let me play with it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIOYd6SJhM1lr8k

Good info. I also have the same question as Steve - is there a way to add columns to a form? I basically need it to look as though the continuous subform data goes across instead of down, so the user can compare 3 records across the page.

You do a nice video. Moves quickly but is complete as an introduction needs to be. I wonder if there is a way to show just part of a picture based on user input. I'm think of a map display application - VBA ok.

Nope. Autonumbers can ONLY be numbers starting at 1 and counting up. If you want to create your own custom field you'll have to do it yourself with programming.
