Suggest all of you doubters look this definition up at Cornell University, “It is also used as an algaecide, an herbicide in irrigation and municipal water treatment systems, and as a molluscicide, a material used to repel and kill slugs and snails. Copper sulfate is a naturally-occurring inorganic salt and copper is an essential trace element in plant and animal nutrition (5, 6, 7, 13, 16).”

Thanks for your question. I don’t see why not. I would give it a try on one plant and check it for 2-3 days before moving to all plants if the first one you used it on looks good.

If my problems are not too serious I mix 2 tablespoons per gallon, if the problem still exists 5-10 days later I go with 4 tablespoons per gallon.

I found 2 TBSP per gallon of water too strong and it burned a few leaves on my plants. It did stop the Blight. I will try 1 TBSP per gallon next time I spray and see how that goes. Also, I will start spraying my plants with Baking Soda, Corn oil and dish soap when they start showing blossoms to prevent White Powdery Mold that I often get. Definitely test on one plant, spray and wait 2-3 days to be sure it's not too strong a mixture.

Nice tomatoes. I grow the tomato plants I sell at the flea market, Crimpson Sprinters "early", Illinois Beauties, and Peacevine Cherry "de-hybridized Sweet-100s". One of my Illinois beauties got about 14 feet long, it grew over and out of my 7-foot cage and touched the ground, the Peacevine got about 19 feet long 2 years ago so I plant those late and in the shade to keep is small. One of my plants got early blight and was wondering if copper sulfate would help when I found this video. I guess it does.

I'll probably mix is half as strong. like other things that are good for tomatoes, it will probably will help other plants in my garden like powdery mildew on roses and cucumbers, and peas.

Hi, you don't seem worried about skin contact with this. The reason I ask is because I used it for the 1st time this year and the very next day I was SO sick. Felt very flu like, which has come and gone all through the week after. My concern is when I sprayed taller tree branches, overspray had hit my face, I washed immediately, but I don't know if I incurred some copper poisoning. We did a concentrate of just under 2 oz with gallon of water. The tree is looking SO much better, will still need to re-apply in a few spots though. Ever had a problem?
@patwalker98906 жыл бұрын
I bet it was coincidence that you got sick. Either that or you have rare sensitivity to copper.

Thanks for this upload! I'm having problems with germination: My chili seeds won't germinate without heat. With heat they germinate, but the seedlings get mould before being ready to plant. Can I add a little copper sulfate to the water which I use in paper towel seed germination to combat mould? I clean the seeds with hydrogen peroxide first to eliminate spores, but one way or another some mold spores get in via the air.

How often do you have to spray the tomatoes once the blight/fungus is present? thank you,
@truettyarbrough14227 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. I try to spray every 2 weeks if a fungus or blight is present. Sometimes in Florida Summers we get so much rain that I have to hold off a day or two but I get in done ASAP. Thanks again for your question, hope this helps.

Hi, I've just put some of that on my tomatoes but I was wondering if it has a withholding period or do you just wash the fruit when it's ready to go? There are some pretty serious warnings on my bottle but nothing about withholding periods

Hey Steve, thanks for your question. I’m not a chemist so the only thing I can say is, follow the label warning. I always wait a few days to consume fruit after spraying it no matter what the label says.

that's why you you must use in very small quantities, for it to never harm plant life ! 2 g copper sulphate / m3 of water ... never overdose. its enough to prevent fungus and other harmful bacteria in the water... it also serves has a pesticide for slugs and snails ...
