I used to shy away from the delays section, but your video was a great insightful guide on how to use them tastefully. Thank you!

This was really useful! I would usually use a boss dd7. I can’t seem to find anything that’s as easy to dial in yet.

Enjoyed the tips with examples. Thanks a lot, Andrew! Need to give one more chance to the tape delay in my preset. I use analog with mod from legacy patch cuz of bigger time possibilities. Will stay here and wait for the reverb tips and ideas.

Excellent video. What type of delay and settings do you recommend for guitar solos? (Your preference)

Thanks for checking it out! These days I use analog (Way Huge Echo-Puss) for solos/slapback and digital (Strymon DIG) for rhythmic delays and volume swells. They work really well for me!

Glad you enjoyed it. Great question, I should make a dedicated video on that! For the classic "Streets Have No Name" kinda playback delay, I like to use a dotted 8th digital delay, mild feedback. Set the mix so the first repeat is almost the same volume as the guitar, and then tap in the tempo and get the delays to fill in the gaps. I kinda touch on this during the tap tempo section of the video, let me know if that makes sense!

These have been super helpful. I'm a fairly decent guitarist, but only recently got into playing electric and learning the effect parameters and controls in my HX Stomp is by far the steepest learning curve.

Liked, and subscribed man. What kind of picks do you use? I’m always curious to know what plectrums other people are using for whatever reason. Also, if you run the hx stomp into a loud tube amp, or use one of the overdrives does it make the amp sound or feel digital? Mostly concerned with how it feels/responds when playing through an amp. Thanks man.
@AndrewLynchMusic
@AndrewLynchMusic 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I use Dunlop Tortex .88mm green picks. The HX Stomp sounds digital for sure, but I used it through a deluxe reverb for years with success. I have stopped using it since this video because I found that it was affecting my overall tone in a negative way. But with all of its features it is an incredible unit

I feel like th rn tap tempo button shoupd control any selected delay by default. This pedal is confusing but amazing.

Yeah I agree, they expect the player to change around the settings and it can be confusing. This thing is like a small computer for guitar!

What kind of delay settings would you use for lead guitar/solo?
@AndrewLynchMusic
@AndrewLynchMusic 2 жыл бұрын
My go-to solo delay is tape echo, 300-400ms, mix about 30% and just a couple repeats. Tweak it so it sits behind the main sound

One problem im having with my stomp is that the delay is adding unwanted reverb. The only reverb im wanting is from my pedal. Is there anyway to get rid of that unwanted reverb?
@AndrewLynchMusic
@AndrewLynchMusic 2 жыл бұрын
Which algorithm are you using? Typically tape and analog will have a more “reverb” quality than a digital delay, try that. Also make sure the “spread” control is at zero
