As always, thank you for sharing. Another tip about placing cards with gems in envelopes: mail is processed on equipment that uses friction to provide the locomotion. There are more points that friction is applied to the back of the envelope than the front. I always address my envelope then place the gems towards the front side. I too will add a scrap of something inside to ease the relief.

Oh my goodness! Love this technique so much. Can't wait to try it. I will try the masking paper and also I do have some yupo paper in my supplies. I do keep lots of rhinestones and pearls on hand...however, they are for, the most part, clear rhinestones and white pearls. If I want to use colors to match the ink colors on my cards, I usually just color them with my alcohol markers...or the inks I used. Works quite well and saves me from trying to keep lots of colored thingys on hand. :-)

Hi! I should have mentioned in the video that there are other options for creating stencils, such as yupo paper, etc. However, with an intricate die, I find the options I shared to the best. Also, cardstock isn't slick so you don't have to wipe the ink off it between colors. AND if you use cardstock, you can add it to your card! :)

Hi Jennifer, I was looking at utube this morning on laminating. Unfortunatly I can't find it again to give the name of the crafter I deceided to try out what she was doing and I think this might help with stencils. I used 1side of a laminating pouch cut it to be a bit smaller than the card and put it through the laminator. It worked and the pouch doesn't peal off. You finish up with one side shiny and the other side plain.
@jennifermcguireink3 жыл бұрын
Oooo.. I love a good tip. Thanks!
@patriciascoble96803 жыл бұрын
@@jennifermcguireink I had a go at making a stencil but forgot that you use a die without an outside cutting edge. OOps. but the laminating didn't lift anywhere so I have a cool decoration for a card.

Barbara at Joggles just released a video in the last week that shows that using intricate dies to cut the Teflon crafting sheets to make stencils from dies works. I used the exact same dies Barbara used to cut Tyvek stencils before I saw the Joggles video. I bought the dies from Joggles; I love the Art by Marlene line. Those die cuts work but are tedious to weed because Tyvek has a fiber running through it. Still great though. I’m using the stencils/masks with gel plates. Neither the Teflon sheets nor Tyvek would be very good with gels or pastes as both are very thin materials. But fun foam does cut easily with thin dies and is great for pastes and gels. Fun foam stencils don’t last as long as stenciling plastic. The thin etched steel dies leave an impression in stenciling plastic and acetate. I have traced the impression in stenciling plastic with a stencil cutter. Not terrible but requires a steady hand and I always get wobbly lines with that method. But it is the best all around stencil in terms of durability and versatility. I suppose you could just scan the die cut and have an electronic cutter cut stenciling plastic, but I don’t know if die manufacturers would permit that. I really wish manufacturers would just release die, stencil, and stamp for all their images.

Beside all the beautiful stenciling techniques you showed I am wondering about the clear purple tape. Does it have an advantage over the old purple tape or the other mini tack tapes? I really like that it fits in a tape dispenser but the old purple tape won't stick to the tearing teeth and you were constantly chasing the end of it. Does that clear tape do the same thing? I learned so much from your equipment that you use, so wanted to know about the tape.
